The UGC has requested all higher educational institutions to take appropriate steps to hold special exams for NCC cadets and not as candidates appearing for re-test.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all the higher educational institutions in the country to make provision for special examinations for the cadets who are enrolled in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) as they had missed their semester exams because of Republic Day training camps every year.

In a letter to vice-chancellors, directors of universities, the UGC stated," The National Cadet Corps (NCC) activities involve a multiplicity of responsibilities between the Central Government, the Education Department, the State Governments and the NCC. The volunteers of NCC are actively involved in various nation-building activities. It has been brought to the notice of UGC that the NCC cadets are involved in preparation/training camps for the Republic Day Camp during the months of November and December every year. The NCC cadets/volunteers are facing problems for selfless services they render, by virtue of which they miss their semester classes.”

The UGC has requested all higher educational institutions to take appropriate steps to hold special exams for NCC cadets and not as candidates appearing for re-test.

“Looking into this, special examinations should be conducted on separate dates for NCC cadets and not as candidates appearing for re-test,” the UGC said.

All the higher educational institutions are requested to take appropriate action for holding separate examinations for NCC Cadets so that they may not face problems for missing their semester exams, the UGC further stated.

In another letter, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that from the academic 2022-2023, a common entrance test (CET) may be conducted for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in central Universities by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
