UGC grants extension to MPhil, PhD students for thesis submission

Now, students can submit their MPhil and PhD thesis by December 31, 2021. However, the tenure of fellowship will remain up to five years only. 

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has extended the deadline for the submission of MPhil and PhD thesis until the end of December 2021. The UGC has given the scholars the extension for submission of their thesis considering the larger interest of the research scholars. According to the circular issued by the commission, the last date for students to submit the MPhil and PhD thesis is now December 31, 2021.  

As per the information provided on the official website of the UGC, considering the larger number of requests of the students and also keeping in mind the interest of the research scholars, the last date for the submission of the MPhil and PhD thesis has been extended to December 31, 2021. The extension will also be applicable to the students whose due date for submission of MPhil/PhD thesis is on or before December 31, 2021. However, the tenure of fellowship will remain up to five years only, the UGC notification stated. 

According to reports, this is the third time that the UGC has extended the dates for the submission of the Mphil and PhD thesis. As per the earlier updates, the deadline for the submission of MPhil and PhD thesis was December 2020 which was further extended to June 30, 2021. With the recent notification, the scholars can now submit their thesis until December 31, 2021.
