UGC NET JRF Validity Extended for another 1 Year: Check Official UGC Notice

UGC NET validity extended: University Grants Commission (UGC) has extended the UGC NET JRF Award Letter validity for another 1 year. The UGC NET JRF is now valid for 4 years. Check below the official UGC notice regarding validity extension.

University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued an official notice, dated March 29, 2022, regarding the extension of validity of the UGC NET JRF Award Letter for another 1 year. The UGC NET validity has been extended up to four years now from the date of issue of the JRF Award letter. Earlier, UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar on March 28, 2022, announced the UGC NET JRF validity extension for up to one year beyond the three-year period.

As per the official notice of the UGC, the decision regarding the UGC NET validity extension will benefit the UGC NET qualified candidates whose admission process has been affected because of the COVID situation. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the MPhil and PhD admission processes have been delayed in universities and higher education institutions from March 2020 onwards. The UGC NET validity has been extended for up to four years for:

• JRF Award Letter
• National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes (NFOBC)
• National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste (NFSC)
• National Fellowship for Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students (MANF)

Note: The other terms and conditions regarding the JRF Award Letter remain the same.

Validity of UGC NET for Assistant Professor & JRF

The NTA awarded the UGC NET e-certificates to qualified candidates. Candidates who qualify the UGC NET exam for Assistant Professor/ Lectureship are awarded the UGC NET E-certificates and those who qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) are granted the JRF Award letter.

The validity of the UGC NET certificate for Assistant Professor / Lectureship is forever, that is, for a lifetime. On the other hand, the validity of the UGC NET JRF Award Letter is for three years from the date of issue. As the UGC NET JRF validity has been extended, the UGC NET JRF is now valid for four years.
