University Grants Commission (UGC) panel has recommended scrapping the final year examinations for all colleges and universities amid rising Coronavirus cases. The recommendation has been put forth as many educational institutions have said that they will be unable to conduct the final year exams in the view of the rising Coronavirus cases in the country.

Earlier, many universities had cancelled the intermediate examinations, but now the Commission has been asked to cancel the final year examinations as well. Maharashtra, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana have already taken the decision to scrap the university and college examinations in their state.

The recommendations from UGC panel are meant to guide over 40 central universities and hundreds of state, private and deemed to be universities and colleges. The UGC panel has also recommended that the new session planned in July for old students and in August for fresh batches should be deferred to October.

Meanwhile, CBSE has cancelled the pending CBSE Class 10 examinations that were scheduled to begin from July 1. However, the Board plans to conduct CBSE 12th examinations whenever the situation is "conducive". ICSE and ISC examinations also stand cancelled due to COVID-19.
