The University Grants Commission (UGC) has come up with a draft comprehensive accessibility guidelines and standards for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) and Universities to make sure the persons with disabilities (PwD) get easy access to higher education. UGC has also sought suggestions and feedback from various stakeholders until March 7, 2022. 

The draft guidelines for the same can be accessed on the official website of the UGC. Stakeholders who want to give their suggestions or feedback can use the University Activity Monitoring Portal (UMAP) of the UGC.

“The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 envisages that education is the foremost primary measure to achieve economic and social mobility, inclusion and equality. The Government of India launched the Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) to ensure the equal participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities in all activities,” the UGC said.

"Recognizing, accommodating, and meeting the needs of the persons with disabilities corning from diverse backgrounds, it becomes the primary responsibility for the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to provide the facilities that enable persons with disabilities having diverse socio-economic backgrounds to live independently and participate fully in all aspect of their educational life at HEIs,” the UGC added.

Meanwhile, UGC NET cut off 2021 has been released for the December 2020 & June 2021 cycles. The NTA UGC NET cut off has been released subject-wise and category-wise separately for Assistant Professor only and JRF & Assistant Professor posts. The subject-wise and category-wise cut off has been released for the UGC NET December 2020 & June 2021 cycles. The UGC NET cut off 2021 is available in two separate lists as cutoff percentile and cutoff marks. In both the lists, the NTA UGC NET cut off is mentioned subject-wise for 81 subjects and category-wise for General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwD and other categories.
