UP govt to set up two new medical colleges in Sambhal, Maharajganj

UP government has signed MoU for setting up medical colleges in Sambhal and Maharajganj districts under the public-private partnership mode.

The Uttar Pradesh government has signed MoU for setting up medical colleges in Sambhal and Maharajganj districts under the public-private partnership mode. The MoU was signed at the official residence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Adityanath said for the first time the state medical colleges are being set up through the PPP mode and asked the medical education department to proceed ahead in a time-bound manner, as reported by The Print.

Yogi Adityanath said the work of setting up the medical colleges is being taken forward by the reputed institutions–Shri Siddhi Vinayak Trust, Bareilly and Shanti Foundation Trust, Maharajganj. The construction of medical colleges with the partnership of the private sector will be taken forward on a war footing, he said.

The state government has set a target of establishing medical colleges in Maharajganj and Sambhal districts by 2024, he added.

The UP government has been on a spree of opening new medical colleges in the state. PM Modi had inaugurated nine medical colleges on October 25, 2021. In December, last year Yogi Adityanath had said in the Parliament that the state government is working on establishing 16 new medical colleges in UP. 

Medical education sector underwent rapid transformation

In the last 8 years, the medical education sector has undergone rapid transformations. Several new medical colleges have come up. Our Government’s efforts to enable the study of medicine in local languages will give wings to the aspirations of countless youngsters, said PM Modi.
