With the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, educational activities took a shift from offline learning to virtual learning. Considering the importance of the online teaching-learning process, the government decided to distribute devices such as laptops and smartphones to students pursuing higher studies.

Students pursuing higher studies will soon be receiving free tablets and smartphones from the education department. The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on October 6, 2021, gave the approval to distribute these devices among students. According to NDTV, the scheme will put a burden of 3,000 crore INR on the state exchequer, a government statement said. 37.35 lakh INR have also been approved by the government cabinet for the installation of a statue of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Circuit House in Kanpur.

The authority to make any amendments to resolve practical difficulties in the scheme has been handed over to the CM. Considering the importance of the online teaching-learning process, the government decided to distribute devices such as laptops and smartphones to students pursuing higher studies. This will help students complete their courses successfully, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has reopened schools in the state in the month of September. While attendance is not mandatory, the students require written consent from parents to attend school. The government is also making sure that schools follow all COVID-19 protocols ensuring the safety of the students as well the staff members.

The vaccination status of eligible students and staff members is also being tracked in order to prevent COVID-19 spread amid reopening. All teachers and students have been directed to mandatorily wear masks, use sanitizers and follow social distancing norms.
