Centralised B.Sc Nursing entrance exam for KGMU affiliated colleges
Lucknow’s King George’s Medical University (KGMU) has amended rules for admission to nursing courses in its affiliated colleges. As per the revised amendment; admissions will now be based upon the performance in the centralised entrance test conducted by the University for B.Sc nursing course on June 15, 2013. This new centralised system is expected to facilitate smooth and speedy admissions. Seats will be allotted based upon the candidate’s performance in the entrance exam and preference.
Until now, all affiliated institutes were allowed to admit students individually based upon their test or the merit decided and KGMU had no active role in deciding the candidates. KGMU has given affiliation to different nursing colleges in Sitapur, Varanasi Agra and Kanpur districts and to Vivekananda Polyclinic and Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow.
However, the decision is facing opposition from the directors/ heads of nursing institutes. They claim that the new amendment has taken away their power of selecting candidates and has hence curbed their role in the education process.
