A notification released by the Commission says the main exam for various gazetted and non-gazetted posts scheduled to be held in May have been postponed.

The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) postponed the main exams of few recruitments. A notification released by the Commission says the main exam for various gazetted and non-gazetted posts scheduled to be held in May have been postponed.

The commission released an official notification informing the candidates regarding the postponement of the recruitment exams. The notification reads, ‘It is hereby informed that the Main Examinations (Online) for various categories of Gazetted (Notification No.14/2019) and Non-Gazetted (Notification No.15/2019) posts scheduled to be held from 10.05.2020 to 13.05.2020 and 18.05.2020 to 20.05.2020 respectively, are now postponed due to prevailing situation of COVID-19 and the fresh dates will be announced later.’

The commission announced these recruitments last year in the month of February. The main exam was scheduled to be held in June 2019. The recruitment process will help to fill a total of 53 vacancies.

According to the report, the APPSC also postponed a few other exams that were scheduled to be held in the month of March and April. The decision to postpone these exams is taken in the view of a nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the deadly novel coronavirus. The list of exams that are postponed by the commission includes Computer Proficiency Test for Junior Assistants in Acharya N.G.Ranga University which was scheduled for March 30-31 and April 1, Degree College Lecturer Exam scheduled for April 3-4, and Group 1 Exam which was scheduled for April 7 to 19.

Initially, the government imposed a 21-day nationwide lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. The lockdown was later extended until May 3 considering the increasing number of positive coronavirus cases in India.
