COVID-19 impact: Indian Army recruitment exam 2020 postponed
Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the Indian Army postponed the combined entrance test for army recruitment which was earlier scheduled for April 26.
Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the Indian Army postponed the combined entrance test for army recruitment which was earlier scheduled for April 26. Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Southern Command, Pune scheduled a Combined Entrance Examination for the eligible candidates on April 26, 2020, after conducting a recruitment drive at Beed District from February 3 to February 14 this year. However, the ongoing nationwide lockdown to contain the novel coronavirus spread in the country led to its postponement.
The official notification published on the Indian Army website states ‘In view of the prevailing conditions due to the treat of COVID-19 it has been postponed till further orders.’
The authorities clarified that admit cards are not issued to the candidates yet and they will issue the hall tickets once a new order is issued regarding the conduction of the exam from the Army Headquarters. The notification also states that the candidates who are supposed to appear for the examination can monitor the latest developments and updates using the email id that they used to register with the ‘Join Army website’. Candidates are also advised not to fall for any rumours or touts.
Earlier the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) postponed various entrance exams such as JNU, UGC NET, JEE Mains and several others considering the norms of the nationwide lockdown and social distancing. The positive coronavirus cases in India are now more than 12,000 claiming 426 lives so far. Due to the increasing graph of positive coronavirus cases in India, PM Narendra Modi extended the nationwide lockdown until May 3 in order to control the virus spread.
