Prepare for any competitive exam like SSC CGL with a focused approach and undivided attention to get the desired results.

SSC CGL stands as Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level. As we know that this year the SSC CGL Tier-I exam was conducted from  March 3 to March 9. Moreover, the official key was also released by the Staff Selection Commission. Most of the aspirants must be waiting for the upcoming Tier-2 exam. Due to the lockdown (COVID-19), every student has got extra time for their preparation. Hence, the students should utilise this time wisely and productively as the competition for this examination is quite high due to the high number of applicants.

Key tips for last week

The candidates often face anxiety in the last days before the scheduled exam and stress about their performance.

I believe that the last days or last week tips and tricks always come in handy for the candidates to achieve success in all competitive examinations. The foremost tip is to revise the important topics/ concepts thoroughly. The more you revise the better is the chance to crack the SSC CGL exam.

To crack the examination with high scores, the students need to revise the syllabus at least two to three times. In the last days of the examination, I practised mock tests and followed previous year question papers and their pattern. Also, analyse the previous year’s cut-off marks to get a fair idea. Try to relax your mind by taking part in recreational activities. Stay focused and confident in the examination.  I also followed all the above-mentioned tips and tricks for SSC CGL Tier-I exam which I cleared and currently waiting for tier-2.

Manage time in a better way

Managing time is very crucial during the examination. You have only two hours to attempt the questions in the examination. Therefore, one must balance the time effectively. Maintain accuracy and speed throughout the examination. Also, keep in mind to answers the questions in which you have more confidence and the ones with high weightage. In case, you get stuck in a question then move to the next question. This would help in saving time. To achieve this, consistent practice is required. Attempt mock tests, and try to complete the same in the specified time frame as this would help in managing time and identifying strengths and weaknesses.

Important topics

For competitive examinations like SSC CGL, one there is no fixed scoring topics. The only way to know the scoring topics is to practise SSC previous years questions papers. Also, one could refer to the SSC Kiran Publication Book. This book covers all the examination questions and model papers. In my opinion, it is better to cover each topic from the syllabus, defined by the Staff Selection Commission.

Thorough revision

Revision is one of the important steps of the preparation process. Revision is the time to brush-up the fundamental concepts, important and base formulae and essential topics. Revision of the focus points and scoring topics is crucial to score well. As we all know that the SSC CGL syllabus is vast, therefore, revising the complete syllabus is a little difficult. The students should focus on revising the high-weightage topics first. Also, revise the topics which have been already covered.  I used to make short notes (including essential topics, formulae, and shortcuts) during the preparation and referred to these notes at the time of revision. This would help in a quick revision of the concepts easily.
