New SSC exam day guidelines 2020

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has decided to make separate/isolated sitting arrangements for candidates with high temperature or cough, etc. The notice reads, "Candidates with fever, cough etc, will be allowed to appear in the upcoming examination in a separate isolated sitting arrangement." Earlier, the commission in point number seven under 'Advisory for candidates regarding Covid-19' section in the new SSC exam day guidelines had mentioned that candidates with COVID-19 positive declaration or symptoms of fever, cough, etc. will not be permitted entry into the examination venue. 

In view of COVID-19 pandemic, SSC had released new exam day guidelines for the upcoming computer-based examinations. The commission will implement social distancing norms during the conduct of various exams for the safety of candidates. According to the new SSC exam day guidelines, candidates appearing for the various exams are required to wear a face mask. They are allowed to carry a small bottle of hand sanitiser.

New SSC Exam Day Guidelines 2020 due to COVID-19: Pre-Exam Measures

As a precautionary measure due to COVID-19, candidates need to follow the below-mentioned guidelines while appearing for various SSC exams.

Entry of candidates

To avoid overcrowding at the entry gate, SSC has asked all candidates to reach the exam centre before the reporting time.

Social Distancing

Candidates will have to maintain a distance of six feet between one another.

Roll and Lab Numbers

Mapping of the candidate’s roll number and lab number will not be displayed outside the examination venue. These will be informed individually to candidates at the entry gate after verification and SSC admit card and ID proof.

Face mask and sanitiser

All candidates are required to wear a face mask. They can carry a small bottle of hand sanitiser. Candidates can also carry a transparent water bottle. They can also wear hand gloves.

COVID-19 Self-Declaration

Candidates are also required to carry a COVID-19 self-declaration as per the format prescribed by SSC. By signing the declaration, candidates agree that they are not tested positive for COVID-19 or identified as a potential carrier. Also, they do have symptoms of COVID-19.

Sanitisation of hand

Facility for hand sanitization will be available at the entry gate and also inside the exam hall. All candidates are required to sanitize their hands. Candidates are advised to sanitize their hands before and after filling the SSC copy of admit card and attendance sheet.

Checking of Temperature

The temperature of candidates will be checked through thermal guns.  

Contactless frisking and verification

Contactless frisking of candidates will be done at the entry gate through Handheld Metal Detector (HHMD). Candidates need to show the admit cards and ID proofs at document verification desk.

Registration Desk

At the registration desk, the photograph of the candidate will be captured. No thumb impression of candidates will be taken as precautionary measures. Post this, seat numbers will be informed to the candidates. They should ensure that they provide LTI, certification statement and signature on SSC copy of admit card by taking necessary precautions against Covid-19.

Allocation of Seats

Candidates will be guided to their allocated seats after registration. To ensure social distancing norms, candidates will be assigned to another seat in case two people are allotted adjacent seats.

Rough Sheets and Ball Pen

Ball pen and rough sheets will be provided to the candidates. Rough sheets and ball pen will be placed at each candidate’s seat. If required, candidates can also ask for additional rough sheets.

New SSC Exam Day Guidelines 2020 due to COVID-19: Post-Exam Measures

The following measures will be taken after completion of each shift of exam.

  • On completion of a shift, candidates will have to move out in an orderly manner
  • Candidates need to drop the rough sheets in the designated box while exiting the exam hall

SSC Exam Day Guidelines 2020: General Instructions

Some general exam day guidelines for various SSC exams are given below.

Reporting Time

Candidates need to reach the exam centre as per the time slot mentioned in the SSC admit card No candidate will be allowed entry after the entry gate closes. 

Admit card

Along with the admit card, candidates need to bring two copies of coloured passport-size photographs. They are also required to carry one valid photo-identity proof. 

Prohibited items

Candidates are not allowed to carry watch, books, pens, magazines, electronic gadgets (mobile phones, bluetooth devices, headphones, pen/buttonhole/spy cameras, scanner, calculator, storage devices etc.). Candidates should avoid wearing nose pins, bracelets, earrings, charms, kadas, etc.
