The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission released an addendum to the HPAS 2021 notification and increased the total number of vacancies in the HPAS Exam 2021 from 16 to 18 by adding two vacancies of Block Development Officer (BDO). The BDO is a Class-I (Gazetted) post with a pay scale of Rs. 10300-34800 + 5000 Grade Pay.
The BDO post comes under the Department of Rural Development, Himachal Pradesh. The BDO posts were added at the request of the department to the HPPSC. The candidates who already filled the HPAS 2021 application will be provided with another opportunity to fill the service preference again. Most of the candidates will change their service preference to include BDO as their second or third choice because of its grade pay and other aspects.

The HPAS 2021 exam will be conducted, most probably in October 2021. The candidates should start the HPPSC HPAS preparation as early as possible so that they can clear the HPAS 2021 Prelims exam. The HPAS Prelims exam is the screening exam and the marks secured in the prelims exam are not considered for the HPPSC HPAS result.
The HPAS Prelims is an objective exam but the real test is the HPSC main exam which is a descriptive type exam. The candidate needs to write the essay type answers for the General Studies and the optional subjects. The HPAS main exam is followed by the interview. The aggregate of the marks secured in the main exam and interview are added to get the final marks.
