In view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state, WBCS 2021 prelims exam has been postponed. Also, the commission has postponed WBCS 2020 mains exam. The new exam dates will be announced soon.

West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBCS) has postponed WBCS 2021 prelims exam scheduled to be conducted on May 30. The commission has also postponed WBCS 2020 mains exam scheduled to be conducted from May 17 to 21. The exams have been postponed due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state.

The official notice issued in this regard reads, “In view of the recent surge in the number of COVID positive cases in the state, the commission has decided in consultation with the state government, that all written examinations scheduled to be taken by the commission between May 7 to June 30 stand postponed till further notice. Fresh dates for the postponed examinations will be announced in due course.”

Initially, WBCS Civil Service 2021 prelims exam was scheduled to be conducted on March 21, 2021. The mains exam of WBCS Civil Service 2020 was scheduled to be conducted from April 24 to 28, 2021. However, the exams were postponed due to the State Assembly elections.

The WBCS 2021 notification was released on December 20. The WBCS 2021 application form was available from December 24, 2020, to January 15, 2021. WBCS prelims exam serves is only to screen candidates for the mains exam. The exam comprises only one objective-type question paper that is General Studies. The total marks allotted to the test are 200. The duration of the test is two and half hours.

The mains exam comprises eight papers. The total marks of the test are 1600. All questions in the compulsory papers in the WBCS main exam are objective type.
