National Education Policy (NEP) Impact on Teachers: Here we have shared below the key takeaways of the NEP 2020 on how it will impact the TET and CTET qualified teacher recruitment process.

The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) introduced the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in July 2020 which aims to amend the ways education is being imparted at the school and college levels. The New Education Policy aims to enable the recruitment of the very best and brightest teachers at all levels by ensuring teachers' livelihood, dignity, autonomy and respect.

Once implemented, the NEP 2020 will also impact the teacher recruitment process of the CTET and TET qualified candidates in government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya (NVS), etc. It may be noted here that candidates who want to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to qualify the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) or the appropriate state TET exam

Impact of NEP 2022 on Teacher Recruitment

Let us now have a look below at the important points on how the National Education Policy 2020 will impact the CTET & TET qualified teacher recruitment in the future.

CTET and TET Eligibility: Four-year duration B.Ed

The National Education Policy states that by 2030 the minimum educational qualification for teachers would be a four-year duration integrated BEd degree. If this happens, only candidates with a four-year BEd degree and CTET or TET certificate will be eligible to apply for teacher recruitment in government schools.

The NEP also aims to ensure full transparency in the recruitment of teachers. With the aim to make the teacher recruitment process in schools more transparent and strong, the government will launch the New Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST). Apart from this, the promotion of teachers will be totally based on merit. This will make it easier for TET and CTET qualified candidates to get recruited in government schools.

Q:   Does the TSTET syllabus change every year?

A:

The Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test (TSTET) syllabus does not change every year. The syllabus for TSTET is prescribed by the Department of School Education, Government of Telangana, and is based on the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and the syllabus for classes I to V and VI to VIII prescribed by the Telangana State Board ofSecondary Education (TSBSE).

The TSTET syllabus comprises two papers - Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is for candidates who intend to teach classes I to V, while Paper II is for candidates who intend to teach classes VI to VIII. The syllabus for both papers includes topics such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I and II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, and Social Studies.

While the syllabus for TSTET does not change every year, the exam pattern and the number of questions asked from each topic may vary.

It is advisable for candidates to prepare for TSTET by referring to the latest syllabus and previous year's question papers. This will help them to understand the exam pattern, the type of questions asked, and the weightage of each topic in the exam.

Q:   Who prescribes the CTET syllabus?

A:
The Central Board of Secondary Education prescribes the CTET syllabus. The CTET syllabus has been fixed as per the guidelines given by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Test, an eligibility test conducted by the CBSE every year to determine the eligibility of Classes 1 to 8 teachers.

Q:   Does KTET syllabus change every year?

A:

The syllabus for the KTET (Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test) Exam is revised and updated periodically by the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan (KPB), but it does not change drastically every year. The syllabus is based on the topics covered in the primary and upper primary school curriculum, and it is designed to test the candidates' knowledge, understanding, and pedagogical skills related to the relevant subjects. However, there may be some minor changes or additions to the syllabus from time to time, depending on the latest developments in the field of education and the requirements of the Kerala Government. To prepare well for the KTET exam, candidates should go through the syllabus thoroughly and practice previous years' question papers and mock tests. This will help them get familiar with the pattern of the exam and the type of questions that are asked, which will increase their chances of scoring well in the exam.

More interactive teaching

The NEP 2020 focuses more on interactive teaching rather than textbook learning in order to promote high-quality content, critical thinking and analysis-based learning. The school curriculum of students will also be reduced to its core.

Technology-based teaching

As per National Education Policy 2020, the use of technology to impart education to students will be encouraged. This will be done with the aim to improve classroom processes, enable disadvantaged groups to have easy access to education and enabling the professional development of teachers.
