PM Narendra Modi inaugurated 750 MW Rewa Solar Power Plant
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the 750 MW Rewa Solar Power plant on July 10, 2020. The Rewa Solar Project is the first solar project in the country to break the grid parity barrier. The project will be the first renewable energy project to supply institutional customers outside the state, including Delhi Metro. 24 per cent of the power generated by the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Plant will be supplied to Delhi Metro.
Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project is located in Gurh Tehsil of Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district.
World’s First Reusable PPE Kits launched in India
World’s First Reusable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Kit was launched in India on July 9, 2020. Indian Textile company Loyal textiles in collaboration with Reliance Industries and Switzerland-based textile innovation company- HeiQ Materials AG manufactured the product. This product will be sold under the brand name - ‘Supera Shield’. This washable PPE kit can be used 10 times.
Operation Samudra Setu completed after bringing 3992 Indians back
Indian Navy launched the operation ‘Samudra Setu’ on May 5, 2020 to bring back the Indians staying overseas and struck due to coronavirus pandemic. Indian Navy Ship Shardul, Airavat, Magar and Jalashwa took part in this operation.
Indian Navy launched Operation ‘Rahat’ in 2015 to bring back Indians from ‘Yemen’ and ‘Sukoon’ in 2006.
ASEEM Platform launched for skilled workers
ASEEM - Aatmanirbhar Skilled Employee Employer Mapping (ASEEM), Artificial Intelligence based digital portal, was launched by Ministry of Skill Development And Entrepreneurship on July 10, 2020. The platform is aimed to increase the information flow of the work available to the skilled workers.
ASEEM is developed and managed by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in collaboration with the Bangalore based company, Betterplace which specializes in blue-collar employee management.
China’s Carrier Rocket Kuaizhou-11 failed in its maiden flight
Kuaizhou-11, meaning ‘Fast Ship’ in China’s Mandarin language, suffered a failure during its maiden flight. The solid fuel propelled low-cost rocket was originally planned to be launched in 2018 but due to technical snags, its launch was delayed.
Along with the rocket, two Chinese satellites were also lost
1. Jilin-1 – Video streaming satellite
2. CentiSpace-1-S2 (Weili-1-02) – Navigation satellite.
United Arab Emirates (UAE) set to become the first Arab country to launch a space probe to Mars
The United Arab Emirates is all set to launch its space probe to Mars and become the first Arab country to do so. Only the United States of America, India, former USSR and European Space Agency are the only institutions which successfully launched such a campaign.
Earlier, UAE had sent a man to space in September 2019 to visit the International Space Station (ISS).
Boeing Completed the Helicopter delivery to India in June 2020
Boeing, the US aerospace company, released a statement on July 10 stating that it has delivered 37 helicopters to India and completed the order placed to it in 2015.

A new order was placed to Lockheed Martin subsidiary company-Sikorsky Aircraft in Feb 2020 for 24 MH-60 Romeo Seahawk Helicopters.

The Development Marketplace Award includes a cash reward of USD 100,000 provided by the World Bank Group & SVRI- Sexual Violence Research Initiative.
