Aligarh Muslim University has postponed the thesis submission date of all the PhD students, due to the 21-day lockdown in the country to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has announced that all the PhD students, who have completed the maximum duration of their course after March 20 and are unable to submit their thesis amid the nationwide lockdown, can now submit it after the resumptions of the normal functioning of the University.
Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, on behalf of the Academic Council has announced that the date of submission of the thesis by PhD students has been postponed until further notice.
He has also directed all the AMU students including foreign nationals to stay at their hostels and residence during this lockdown and avoid any travelling unless it is an emergency.
Abdul Hamid, AMU Registrar, said we still have 4,500 students in our hostels and to keep the residential halls functioning essential services staffs are required. The university has issued identity cards which will be used as curfew pass to come to college as it is important to run all the necessary facilities in the residential halls as well as other places in the University such as electricity, water supply, sanitation, gas agency, dining hall facilities and petrol pump.
The Registrar has also directed all the University department heads to make sure all electrical equipment in their departments and offices are closed to avoid any unforeseen contingencies due to short circuits and other reasons.
AMU has also announced that the University Petrol Pump will function from 8.00 am to 11.00 am on all working days including Friday. These timings will be followed until further orders.
