Online registration for Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Yuva Vigyani Karyakram (YUVIKA) programme is closing today i.e. March 5, 2020. The Indian space agency will close the online registration window today at 6 pm. According to the data released by the ISRO, a total of 1, 53,000 candidates have already registered for the YUVIKA programme. Initially, when the Indian space agency launched the YUVIKA 2020 programme, the registration date for the programme was February 24. Later, the last date of online registration was extended by 10 days i.e. March 5, 2020. Eligible and interested candidates who haven’t registered yet can apply for ISRO Yuvika 2020 Programme on the official website of the programme i.e. yuvika.isro.gov.in.

According to the reports, the YUVIKA Programme will take place during summer vacations from May 11 to May 22. 2020 and its duration will be two weeks. ISRO launched the programme, Young Scientist Programme (Yuva Vigyani Karyakram), last year for school-going children. The vision behind organizing such programme is to impart basic knowledge related to space technology, space applications, and science to the youth of our nation.

As stated by ISRO, the two-week YUVIKA Programme will include activities like discussions and experience sharing by well-known scientists, invited talks, lab and facility visits, exclusive discussion sessions with experts, practical, and feedback sessions. Considering that such facilities are generally not available in rural areas, students from rural areas are given special weightage in the selection criteria. The state-wise list of the selected candidates is expected to be out by March-end 2019.

Students who have finished class 8 and are currently studying in class 9 will be eligible for the programme. The selection process is completely based on the applicant’s academic performance. Two-week residential training will be provided to the students from class 9 onwards during their summer holidays. In this programme, three students from each state/ Union Territory will participate every year covering ICSE, CBSE, and state-board syllabus.
