10 IGNOU students join Apollo Hospital
In a first, 10 students enrolled in Certificate in Hospital Administration Assistantship (CHAA) programme, being run by the Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU's) School of Vocational Education and Training (SOVET), have got employment at the Apollo Hospital in the capital. One CHAA student has received an offer letter from New-Delhi based Metro Hospital.
IGNOU had collaborated with Apollo Hospitals for this programme. "The main aim of this programme is to prepare students for jobs such as ward secretary, front office staff, patient care executive and other such supportive roles," informed Dr. Rachna Agarwal, programme coordinator.
"The need for such a programme arises from the nature of the socio-psychological needs and the expectations of parents from their attendants. Therefore, a professional training is required for the effective work," she added.
The programme consists of two courses - Personality and Skill Development and Management of Health Insurances. Each of these courses are subdivided into units or lessons comprising of both theoretical and practical components, which would give a student the required theoretical and hands-on experience required to be able to perform the duties of Hospital Administrative Assistants. The duration of the programme is six months followed by the Term-End Examination.
