At an age when most kids stammer, this 3-year-old wonder boy, Arnav Dasyam, has made it to the Mensa IQ club, with a whopping IQ of 132.

The youngest kid of Indian/South Asian descent to have made it to Mensa, Arnav could recite all the English alphabets, when he was just 18 months old. When most other kids would hear bedtime stories to sleep, Arnav was busy reading them.

A resident of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, US, Arnav has made his parents Dr Anil and Navya Dasyam, proud by making it to the Mensa club at a mere age of 3, where most Mensans are in the age group of 20 to 60.

Well! It seems Indian kids are all set to make exceptions, as recently a 12-year-old Indian girl made it to the Mensa club with an IQ supposedly higher than the ‘father of gravity’ Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.

Neha Ramu astonished everybody when she achieved a score of 162 on a Mensa IQ test - the highest score possible, according to news reports.

Though the extra-ordinary girl is merely 12, the score puts her in the top one per cent of brightest people in the UK, which means she is more intelligent than Hawking, Bill Gates and even Einstein, who are all thought to have an IQ of 160.

About Mensa:

The word "Mensa" means "table" in Latin. The name stands for a round-table society, where race, color, creed, national origin, age, politics, educational or social background are irrelevant. "Mensa" also means mind.

Membership in Mensa:

Membership in Mensa is open to persons who have attained a score within the upper two per cent of the general population on an approved intelligence test that has been properly administered and supervised. There is no other qualification or disqualification for membership eligibility. The term "IQ score" is widely used but poorly defined. There are a large number of tests with different scales. The result on one test of 132 can be the same as a score 148 on another test. Some intelligence tests don't use IQ scores at all. Mensa has set a percentage as cutoff to avoid this confusion. Candidates for membership in Mensa must achieve a score at or above the 98th percentile (a score that is greater than or equal to 98 per cent of the general population taking the test) on a standard test of intelligence.

Admission to Mensa India is on the basis of an admission test conducted by Mensa India. Mensa has no eligibility requirements other than IQ testing.

The Mensa workout is an interactive online intelligence quiz, in which you have half an hour to answer 30 questions. Instant scores are available at the end of the test. You can also check out the answers to the questions. However, the Workout is not an IQ test, and is not meant to be a qualification to join Mensa. This workout is available at www.mensa.org.

Some well known Mensans:

  • Scott Adams – Cartoonist, creator of Dilbert
  • Jacques Bergier – Chemical engineer, member of the French resistance, spy, journalist and writer
  • Martin Cooper – Considered the inventor of the mobile phone
  • Donald Petersen:  Former chairman of Ford  Motor  Company

It's heartening to note that these girls making their nation proud. My only request to their parents - handle them with care.Children with such a high IQ are very fragile, sensitive and mostly they have their own world. keep them away from publicity.
