AICTE Websites Technical Glitch Causes Trouble for Students Nationwide
With AICTE's official website facing immense buffering problems, various technical institutes are encountering delays in course commencement and counseling sessions. One of the victims of this problem has been the Karnataka technical institutes which have been tackling the problem of getting course approval and intake of undergraduate engineering students for the session beginning 2011-12.
Since 2010, AICTE had set fixed rules, making it compulsory for all technical institutes to present their applications via net. As a result until 2010, institutions followed this policy and submitted a hard copy of their applications online. But in spite of being in its second consecutive year, AICTE still appears to be unable to deal with the problem of processing forms online.
According to close sources the site remains down for majority of times and when one tries to fill the application, some or other technical glitch pops up. The counseling process for allotment of seats in Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) during 2010 got delayed by a month due to very same reason.
Moreover speculations are high that this year too the scenario is going to be the same if no appropriate action is taken on time. Certain sources even claim that since December 31 the website has become all the more confusing because when one tries filling the forms, some tabs click and open and some simply don't.
In addition, the website remains out of action for two-three hours, twice a week, unable to take the enormous load making it tough for colleges to submit applications on time as they are finding it to be a herculean task.
It is not that AICTE isn't aware of the scenario since it has twice stretched the deadline for submission of applications. The initial date for submission of application was set to be February 28 but due to technical problems the date was pushed forward to 15 March and then the second date was made to be 31 March.
