CBSE on alert, cheaters beware!
This competitive entrance exam season finds CBSE turning its plain vanilla exam centres into hi-tech cheating proof environments. It will use mobile phone jammers, fingerprint scanners, spy camera blockers etc at its test centres to achieve highest level of security against malpractices during competitive exams.
The Board responsible for conducting major entrance tests including CET, AIEEE, CTET and AIPMT, etc in the country is looking for experienced tech firms to help with infrastructural support to carry out successful operations of the project.
A pilot version of this project will be tested at select centers during the All India Pre- Medical/Dental test (AIPMT) on May 13, 2012. Considering the magnitude of the exams it conducts, the challenge for CBSE will increase with the introduction of new versions of medical and engineering entrance exams next year.
Exam centres will be equipped with portable mobile jammers to shut out voice transmissions and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Plan is to block the use of spy cameras as well. All these gadgets will have battery back-up to avoid any dependence on electric power.
To verify that the right candidates appear for the exam, fingerprint scanner and camera will be used to check candidate accuracy. Mumbai is among the 10 cities chosen for the dry run of this pilot project. A maximum of 30,788 students are expected to be present in these centres, while 409 students will be present in the specified Mumbai centre.
This being just the initial step, complete implementation on a national scale will be a challenging task both for CBSE as well as the security provider chosen for the project. Current numbers for AIEEE alone reached 11.64 lakh (online and offline) and will increase with the single CET to take place from next year. Read More...
