Central Teacher Eligibility Test on Nov 18
As earlier notified by CBSE, any new teacher enlisted for standard I-VIII would now be required to clear the Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) or the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the state government. (Read more)
Therefore, CBSE will be conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) on November 18, 2012. CTET is an eligibility test for appointment of aspiring teachers for class I to VIII. Entrants for the same are required to apply from August 1 to August 31, 2012.
Eligibility:
The minimum qualifications one needs to possess at primary and the elementary stage are:
Primary Stage: Classes I-V
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR
- Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
The elementary stage: Classes VI-VIII
- Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)
OR
- Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard
OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education B.El.Ed)
OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed
OR
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*.(Know more)
However, a note of the following points must be made:
- Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility to apply shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled.
- *Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education: A diploma/ degree course in teacher education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) will only be considered. However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.ED (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will be taken into consideration.
Exam Pattern:
This objective type examination will have Multiple Choice questions and will be spread over two papers:
- Paper I: For aspirants intending to be a teacher for classes I to V
- Paper Inform aspirants intending for a teacher for classes VI to VIII
However, individuals willing to be a teacher for both the levels, they will have to take both the papers. Also, any questions answered wrongly will hold no negative marking.
