Complete your Diploma in elementary education from IGNOU

The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU) School of Education (SOE) has invited applications for their new course – Diploma in Elementary Education. The two-year diploma will be offered in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode and is meant for practising teachers to enhance their understanding and competency at elementary-level teaching.

The course was announced during a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between IGNOU and Arunachal Pradesh government at the IGNOU headquarters in Delhi recently. Authorities informed that the course has been launched in order to meet the deadline set by Right To Education Act, wherein, all the in-service, government, un-trained elementary teachers should be professionally trained by March 2015 through a two-year diploma programme as per the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) norms. Failing to do so, teachers may lose their jobs.
