The Combined Research Entrance Test (CRET) is one of the most prestigious exams conducted by the Allahabad University (AU) for admission to its Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) program.

The exam syllabus will include eight new courses from this year. The decision has been approved by the Academic Council. Agriculture zoology has been dropped from the list of subjects for CRET as it lacks takers. The dates for CRET are yet to be announced. Read more

The new subjects that will be added in the exam are:

  1. Sociology
  2. Home science
  3. Atmospheric and Ocean studies
  4. Globalization and Development studies
  5. Material science
  6. Cognitive science

Rest of the two subjects will be offered by Rajiv Gandhi Chair and Govind Ballabh Pant Social Science Institute. Henceforth, the exam will have 47 subjects instead of 40.

The exam will be conducted once the admission cell receives the syllabus of all eight new courses. The applications for the exam were to be invited from May 1 and the entrance exam was to be conducted in the month of June. But as information on departmental vacancies in each subject is yet to reach the authorities, the exam could not be held as scheduled. Read more
