81.71 % Students Clear CBSE Class XII Exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12th (Senior School Certificate Examination) results are out. 81.71 per cent students have passed in the class XII CBSE examinations which is an increase of 1.84 per cent over last year. Once again girls have outshone the boys in CBSE class 12 exams. According to CBSE, compared to 77.83 percent for boys, the pass percentage of girls was 86.93 percent. This year, 7,69,929 candidates registered for the exams conducted for three different streams.

IITs Admit Major Errors in JEE Paper

Finally The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) admitted major errors in the Joint Entrance Examination. According to the institute question papers in JEE held last month, had errors of 36 marks thereby putting the fate of meritorious candidates in balance. IITs have offered marks in three questions to nearly 4.8 lakh candidates.

IIT Releases the Answer Key

IIT-Kanpur on May 15th 2011 released the answer key to this year's IIT-JEE paper. It was revealed that eight questions worth 30 marks had wrong and incomplete descriptions. Of these incomplete questions, six questions worth 22 marks were from the Mathematics section and two of eight marks questions in physics. As per these IIT revelations, every student who took IIT-JEE 2011 will get 12 marks free. This is included in the overall 30 marks and will raise the cut off level for Maths. This year IIT Kanpur had conducted JEE.

Now students can download the comprehensive GMAT material on their iPhone, iPod or even iPad. This was made possible due to the tie-up between GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) and Apple. The new move will help students in solving questions, included in the official GMAT preparation book, including questions already asked in previous GMAT exams. The most attractive feature is that the application will have an inbuilt timer, which will help students to judge their speed.

IIM to Open in Tiruchirappalli

Now Tiruchirappalli will also join the bandwagon of new IIMs, which will open next month. The institute will have a total student strength of 60. According to IIM Tiruchirappalli Director, the entire infrastructure has been set up and after rigorous selection parameters, 12 faculty members have been chosen. The fees will be Rs 10 lakh for the two-year programme, which includes tuition fee, course materials, basic books and case study books. IIM Tiruchirappalli will be inaugurated on June 15, 2011.

IIMA Comes up With New Courses

From this year, MDP or Management Development Programmes at the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will encompass topics like sports, communication, urban transport and other sectors. Till last year IIM Ahemdabad, has been offering 56 programmes for executives and will now add 20 more programmes to its list from this year. In total, the institute will be offering 76 programmes. In 2008-09, 38 MDPs were offered by IIM-A.
