NAAC To Come Up With New Methodology
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) will come up with a fresh methodology for granting accreditation to colleges or varsities. This move will most probably come into effect by March 2012. According to Chairman of NAAC, a special website will also be created to receive responses from institutions in this regard.

New Format for MBBS from 2012
An online examination has now been proposed by MCI for DM/MCH and PG programmes. The examination format will be a standard paper based test. Moreover to ensure uniformity, evaluation will be done centrally with the help of an agency. The merit list will be prepared as per eligibility decided by the MCI. For MBBS entrance examination, a proposal of a 3-hour single paper of 250 questions, 75 from Physics and Chemistry each and 100 from Biology has been made.

Coal India To Recruit 1,400 Management Trainees
To complete its projects, Maharatna firm Coal India will recruit 1,400 executives by October, 2011. The vacancies for the same will be published for students by early next month. According to a senior official, the selection procedure for management trainees in streams like HR, Finance, Sales and Marketing will start in May and will be completed by October.

Now A Common Admission Rule For New IIMs
From 2012 onwards, seven new Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) might follow common admission criteria. The current move will help aspirants escape the complex selection procedure for each of the B-schools separately. Of all the new seven IIMs, four of these have this year jointly held personal interviews (PIs) and group discussions (GDs) at the second stage of the admission process.

Education Sector Has Potential Of 15 lakh Jobs
With 50,000 crore rupees being allocated to the education sector in the budget, avenues in higher education will grow at a fast pace. The money allocated shows a rise of 24 percent which has resulted in a demand for better and quality teachers, content developers, along with IT professionals with product applications in education. There is also a huge demand for teachers at Kindergarten to class 12th level and the salaries offered will also be high.

Private Hospitals Rope In To Improve Healthcare
In order to improve the status of healthcare delivery in hospitals, Dr. MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu has introduced a number of UG and PG diploma and degree courses. Around 54 hospitals have already applied and 34 more have got the green signal to start courses. Undergraduate students will work for 270 days and PG students for 290. In addition to this, private hospitals with 50 beds, can admit nearly ten students and conduct one diploma course.
