Gang Involved In AIEEE Paper Leak Identified

Uttar Pradesh police finally managed to nab the miscreants involved in AIEEE paper leak. According to the police, the gang involved included a native of Jaunpur district, with bases in Ghaziabad and Mumbai. Other members included natives from Sasaram and Patna in Bihar and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. AIEEE, paper was leaked last week on 1st May, which compelled the authorities to reschedule the test by two hours.

COMED K UGET Candidates To Give Thumbs Impression

In order to do away with any impersonation, the entrance test for admission to UG professional courses, the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K) has come up with a new plan. All the applicants appearing for COMED-K UGET will be required to give their thumb impression before entering into the test center. Apart from this, a bio-metric device will also be set up at the entrance of each centre.

Karnataka Government Announces Hike In Engineering Fees

Karnataka government has announced that the yearly fee of engineering seats will rise by Rs 2,500. Therefore, as per the new ruling, the fee will now be Rs 32,500 for an engineering seat under government quota. Previously, the fee under this quota was Rs 30,000. The government also said that the quota in private engineering colleges will come down to 45% from the existing 50%.

Tussle Between Private Medical Colleges And Government To Continue

Private medical and dental colleges are in no mood to compromise on the issue of fee structure and seat sharing. According to chairman of COMED-K, no consensual agreement will be signed with the government. However, seats will be provided to Karnataka government on a priority basis. Private colleges and government have been entering into agreements for some time, whereby certain percentage of seats in the colleges will be allotted via CET, and the fee for those seats will be mutually determined.

FDDI And IGNOU Launch 8 Fresh Courses

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) has come together to launch 8 new courses. These courses include Fashion Merchandizing and Retail Management, Footwear Technology, Creative Designing, Leather Goods and Accessories Design among others. According to a senior university official, FDDI will provide full-time training and IGNOU will be responsible for offering degrees to the students.

Gujarat University To Have Amol Palekar As Faculty

Eminent actor and director, Amol Palekar, has been appointed as a faculty of School of Performing Arts, Gujarat University from next academic year. The department will be known as Upasana and it will offer PhD, degree and certificate courses in drama, dance, music and film-making. The Post Graduate courses will have four semesters, and about 30 students will be admitted in each stream.
