Education Sector will come up with 15 lakh jobs in the Next Decade!
India has a come a long way from 1951 to 2011 in education sector. There has been 4 times growth in the literacy rate and the most significant fact is the growth of female literacy. With such growth rates, Government has allocated 50,000 crore rupees for the sector in this budget year and the education sector is all set to rain jobs in higher education.
Keeping the need factor in mind and the growth potential, this year the allocation is 24 percent higher than of last year, said Khozem Merchant, President, Pearson India. Education sector is the next frontier industry, and the level of growth is going increasing considerably and is extremely favorable for all types of educators - philanthropists, corporates and NGOs.
At present, country is facing shortage of qualified and skilled trainers, better quality teachers, content developers, as well as IT professionals with product applications in education, which underlies the importance of technology in transforming learning.
Basically, the demand begins right from pre-nursery level which has increased due to the increasing pattern of working parents. Then the demand comes from the K-12 segment and this segment requires the teachers as well as candidates who can manage the things effectively; moreover salaries are also on rise.
Requirement of Skills:
If you are planning for a job in education sector; then be sure that you acquire the required skills. As this sector is very complex and you need to handle with loads of children of different personalities. Basically, two types of qualifications are required to enter the teaching profession:
- At primary level, teacher training diplomas after 10+2 are valid
- At the middle and secondary levels, a basic graduate degree or a degree in education (BEd) are valid
To enter the teaching domain, besides the in depth knowledge of the chosen subject, one should also have excellent communications skills; empathy and sensitivity to understand the needs of students.
