Foreign Language Aptitude Test on June 21
Delhi University is all set to conduct its Language Aptitude Test (LAT) on June 21. This test is a gateway for students seeking admission in Honours courses in foreign languages at Delhi University. One can plan to pursue B.A. Honours course in French, Spanish, German or Italian languages from DU. Department of Germanic and Romance Studies (GRS) offer the four courses. Each of the four courses has 39 seats available for admission.
If you wish to apply for these foreign language courses, then you can obtain the forms from Arts Faculty office of DU. A merit list will determine your admission to the course, under which 70% weightage will be assigned to the class XII marks and 30% weightage to the entrance test.
The entrance test can be attempted in two languages i.e. English and Hindi, which will test your language proficiency as well as logical ability. It is expected that the department will begin the classes from July 23.
Such language based programs focus on language studies and the cultural aspects of the respective region where the language is spoken. This program aims at enhancing students' language, literary or cultural studies in the selected field or prepares them for professional life. (Read full story)
Apart from the four full-fledged courses, the university departments and other DU colleges offers various short-term courses, certificate courses, diplomas and advanced diploma courses in French, Spanish, Romanian, German, Italian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, etc. Other DU colleges that offer language courses include Daulat Ram, St Stephen's, Hindu, Hansraj, ANDC, JMC, and Lady Shri Ram, etc.
