Grading System: Is It The Right Choice For Our Education System?
‘Hardwork is the key to success', but does this saying hold any relevance in today's world where people are just harping upon the good aspects that the news grading system will have on society.
The decision of the CBSE to introduce the grading system will discourage students from working hard. If the CBSE's aim is to improve the pass percentage in class 10th exams, then it has certainly chosen the wrong path. They are attacking the tail when they should be tacking the problem head-on by changing the curriculum and improving the teaching standards.
Besides, what is the point in retaining a student till class 12th if he doesn't have the ability to cope with the syllabi of class 11th and 12th?
The decision of the CBSE will only add to the quantity of students going to the higher class and not their quality. Toppers will be discouraged from doing better. On the other hand, with no fear of failing, the weak students will neglect their studies. The average result will tumble down because grades only signify a range, not an excellent performance.
Instead of endorsing the grading system, the CBSE needs to ensure a flawless evaluation process, whereby students get the worth they really deserve. I hope you would agree with me.
