Gujarat HSC hits 7-year lowest result
Result for Class XII (general stream) of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) exam was declared on Thursday. The worst of the last seven years, the result closed at 68.44%. Last year, the result was 77.17% which slipped by 8.6% in 2012. The result was 63.16% in 2004.
The HSC (general stream) exam is cleared by 2.8 lakh students, while 4.3 lakh students appeared for it. Though the percentage of result is low, the total number of students who passed the exam has gone up by 7,327 students this year as compared to previous year. The top three cities from where maximum number of students passed the exam are Surat (26,614 students), Ahmedabad (21,000) and Junagarh (18,377). Read more
This year the number of students failing in one subject adds up to 80,000 as compared to 47,000 last year. Also, only 199 schools have posted 100% result this year, which shows that 36 other schools failed to maintain 100 per cent result since last year. Students who have not cleared the exam can appear for the supplementary exam in the month of July. Students can obtain their mark sheets on May 29 from their respective schools. Applications for re-valuation and re-assessment will be accepted by the board office till June 11.
