Jamia Millia Islamia Admission Helpline

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has started an admission helpline. Using the contact details on the university website, aspirants can either call up or send emails to the concerned officials and get their queries answered.

Admission-seekers can directly contact deans of faculties, heads of departments, directors of centres, the principal of schools as well as other officers and officials, such as the foreign students' advisor. These officials' contact details along with their e-mail addresses and phone numbers are available on http://www.jmi.ac.in/admission/admissionhelp.htm.

There are more new features in JMI's entry system this year. For the first time, the university is going to hold common entrance tests (CETs) for clusters of undergraduate study programmes offered in different faculties. So, a CET in the social science faculty will be held for two clusters. One group includes programmes such as BBS, BCom, and BA (H) economics. The second one covers BA, BA (Hons) sociology, political science, psychology, geography, social work, history, and hotel management, travel and tourism. The test for both clusters is slated for June 2, 2011. The application deadline is May 5.

The Faculty of Humanities and Languages' CET will be for BA programmes in English, Hindi, mass media, Arabic, Persian, Urdu, and Islamic studies. It is scheduled for June 3, 2011. The closing date for applications for all these programmes is May 4, 2011.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences' CET, too, is planned for two categories - one for programmes such as BSc, BSc in instrumentation, BSc (Hons) physics, chemistry, maths and BA (Hons) maths and the second for BSc in biosciences and biotechnology. The test for the first group is on June 3, 2011 and for the second group on June 2, 2011. The application deadline for all these programmes is May 4, 2011.

The university has also adopted OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) application forms for a few programmes this year. It has introduced OMR forms for MTech, MSc in electronics, MBA (evening), BTech, BE (evening), diploma in engineering, and diploma in engineering (evening). Last year, about 30,000 aspirants applied for entry into the BTech programme, which has 350 seats.
