MEDIA RELEASE
The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU's) National Center for Innovation in Distance Education (NCIDE) has signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with the former captain of Indian Cricket Team, Mr. Krish Srikkanth's Sun On Line India Pvt. Ltd (SOLIPL) today at the university's headquarters.
The MoC will lead to a collaboration of IGNOU with SOLIPL to launch an electronic career guidance portal www.CareerStrokes.com paving the way for the students of IGNOU to empower and equip themselves with the career-enhancement modules offered by the portal.
Under SOLIPL, there are three separate portals viz. www.CareerStrokes.com for career enhancement and success in life, www.EduStrokes.com for learning maths and science through the medium of sports and www.CricketStrokes.com to learn to play cricket online. All the three portals draw mileage extensively from the medium of sports to empower and educate today's youth and to make learning a fun-filled experience'.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Krish Srikkanth mentioned that, "The portal offers a whole range of modules required for career enhancement viz, goal setting, leadership, decision making, teamwork, etc. The modules draw extensive mileage from the game of cricket in an effort to endear itself to the student community and make learning a pleasant experience'. Interesting anecdotes and on-field experiences form an integral part of the modules, so do personal experiences and suggestions of celebrity cricketers and business heads."
Prof. V.N Rajaesekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU said that, "It is another landmark in the annals of IGNOU. Every student is wary about his/her career and always looks for the opportunity for having proper career guidance and training in soft skills to enhance his/her employability quotient. This portal has all these elements which would definitely facilitate learners."
Dr. C. K. Ghosh, Director, NCIDE, expressed that dissemination for career guidance and soft skills through the language of cricket is an innovation and the centre feels privileged to be a part of this innovative enterprise. "By this collaboration, both IGNOU and Carrerstrokes hope to achieve an important milestone in offering innovative and life-changing tools of learning to its students" he adds.
