LPU wins NASSCOM award for “Best IT Innovation in Higher Education”

National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), India’s only policy making body for IT Industry, recently presented prestigious Innovation 2013 Award to Lovely Professional University (LPU) under the category of "Best IT Innovation in Higher Education", in Mumbai.

The award was presented after a rigorous evaluation of the shortlisted nominations by an eminent award jury. The winners were chosen from the 18 shortlisted ones out of a total 404 applications that were received and recognised for their exemplary contribution to the IT-BPM industry.  LPU’s Additional Dean Rohit Dhand received the award from NASSCOM President Som Mittal, on behalf of the University.

Speaking on the occasion, Mittal expressed: “The winners have presented a fresh perspective on how innovation can be integrated into the growth. The awards serve as a benchmark to capture the innovation journey of India across multinational organisations.”

In its ninth year this time, the Innovation Awards also acknowledged mammoth organisations like Infosys, Vigyanlabs Innovations Mysore and other, which pioneered leading practices, products and solutions.

LPU is regularly pushing its ideology of having LPU as a paperless University and has developed softwares to achieve the target.  University Management System (UMS) is a great effort in this context which sees almost all the activities on-line. Students can download and upload the homework, assignments, term papers etc. Even, parents can forward feedbacks/suggestions or lodge complaints online. In a way, UMS serves as an Electronic Bulletin Board also to inform about all the university activities, online attendance and result system. Moreover, University has high-tech computing resources and network all across the campus, supporting 50000+ computer terminals.  LPU also has probably one of the largest in-campus wi-fi infrastructure.
