Maharashtra Council of Agricultural Education and Research PG Common Entrance Test ( MCAER PG CET) is a state-level entrance exam conducted annually by the Maharashtra Council of Agriculture Education and Research. This exam is for students who wish to pursue post-graduate courses in various subjects of agriculture.

It is a 2 hour long paper with multiple choice questions conducted only in offline mode at 14 centers in Maharashtra.

MCAER Exam Highlights

The syllabus of the MCAER PG CET exam consists of topics covered in the under-graduate courses such as agriculture, horticulture, animal and dairy sciences and so on.

The weightage of this test is 70 per cent, with the remaining 30 per cent attributed to the marks secured in the undergraduate course.

MCAER Exam Pattern and Marking

This state-level exam is conducted in offline mode with students answering in the OMR sheets provided to them. The exam pattern is as follows:

  • There are 200 questions covered from various topics in agriculture from undergraduate bachelor’s course.
  • Each correct answer fetches one mark with no negative marking for the wrong answer. This motivates the students to attempt all questions without hesitation.
  • Scoring well in this exam is crucial as this contributes to 70 per cent of the required marks for post-graduation admission.
  • The questions are randomly ordered with no specific number of questions from each topic. Also, there is no division of questions into sections.
  • The candidate is expected to complete the MCAER exam in 120 minutes.

MCAER Preparation Tips

To crack the MCAER PG CET exam, you will need to master all the topics well in advance. This can be achieved in the following ways:

Begin preparation early: If you begin your preparation much earlier before the scheduled date of the exam, you get ample time to study, revise and refer to different study materials.

Make your study time worth: It is not necessary to study for the whole day but concentrate and make the maximum of the hours you put into MCAER preparation.

Understand syllabus: It is very important to be aware of each and every topic of the exam syllabus so that you can cover all topics in your preparation.

Obtain the detailed syllabus from any authentic source and clear any doubts you have about the exam syllabus.

Make a schedule: Charting out a study schedule and following it is necessary to ace the test. You must allocate appropriate time for each topic including revisions and breaks.

If you are unable to keep up with your study schedule, make sure you make up the time.

Revise as many times as possible: The number of revisions, the better. If you have ample time, you can do multiple revisions of the subjects. In case of time is short, you must learn to prioritise and revise the hard topics first
