St Xavier's College has a 150-year-long tradition in educational expertise. Regarded widely as one of the best colleges in the country, especially for the arts stream, the college was recently declared autonomous

A special honours programme has been implemented, where students are encouraged to earn extra credit by way of independent research, projects, or seminars. The college has a long list of notable alumni and qualified faculty to match

In 2007, the college was awarded the highest rating (A+) in the re-accreditation by the NAAC, an autonomous body linked to the University Grants Commission of India.

The campus buzzes with cultural activities, including one of India's biggest college fests, Malhar.

It offers courses in mass media, management studies, economics, history, psychology, sociology, political science, anthropology, ancient culture, and statistics, among others.

Known for its arts and mass media courses, the college is located between Breach Candy and Peddar Road. Founded in 1934, it is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and comes under the governing body of the Society for Higher Education for Women in India.

The college has been given an ‘A' grade by NAAC (The National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in both 2003 and 2009. Sophia College offers several courses at the junior college, graduate and postgraduate level.

At the degree college level, the college offers three main courses - BA, BSc and bachelor's in mass media.

Among the UGC-approved courses is a certificate course in women's empowerment and a certificate course in cooking and baking. These courses fall under the Sophia Centre for Women's Studies and Development. The JN Heredia Centre for Value Education offers counselling to students.

Jai Hind College

The college also has tie-ups with universities in the US such as the Niagara Community College that offer associate degrees to students

KC College

Established in 1954, Kishinchand Chellaram College has been given an ‘A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

It has tie-ups with Deakin University, Australia, and the Blue Bridge network for student exchange programmes.

Moreover, it has adopted a village near Virar where students help with organic farming methods, marketing their products and medical testing.

The college boasts of many active cells and clubs, including the Entrepreneurship Cell, Economics Forum, Nature Club, Sociology Association, among others.

Inter-college festivals such as Kiran, Blitzkrieg and Tech Renegade draw in colleges from all over Mumbai. KC college has various activities such as the nature club, culture club, Marathi mandal, E-circle (economics department) etc.

The college festival Kiran has events such as drama, dance and other activities

Among its popular courses is the bachelor of mass media
