The Mumbai University second general merit list of for admissions to junior colleges will be out today on 1st August by 5 p.m. On the other hand various colleges might begin the academic session by the end of this week or by August 8. The information was confirmed by Tushar Desai, principal of DG Ruparel College.

Mr. Desai said that they will require two days to enroll students, who will be provided seats in the second round. Two more days will be needed for making identity cards and for other administrative formalities. He also said that once this procedure is done, the academic session will begin. The principal said that even if 85-90% seats are filled in the second round, the session will surely start.

The college has around 70 seats balance in the commerce stream and around 150 seats vacant in the science stream after the first round.

The college is also planning to start by Friday or by August 8. According to a principal from a college in Goregaon, the new syllabus for FYJC will come into effect this year. He was also of the opinion that the common entrance test, that will be conducted across the country in 2013 will give some weightage to the FYJC syllabus. Therefore no part of the course can be skipped.

Adding more on Mumbai University second general merit list, an official said from the school education department said that the list will be released on time this week. If student enrolment can be completed, colleges will start their academic session by this week. The department has given green signal for the same so that there will be no delay.
There are various students who are awaiting for their betterment option. The official also added that students can use their betterment option only once.

The office of the deputy director of the school education department managed to release the first general merit list before the scheduled time.
