Mystory@Kamaraju Pulugurtha: How I selected my career
I belong to the generation of 1970s. I am happy to share my experience as I believe that experiences of any generation have an all-time validity.
Basically, I was a Science student. The wavering of my mind began in my Second Year of BSc. when I started winning prizes for my literary contribution and my oratorical abilities. Gradually, I began favouring English more than Biology. Then is when I decided I was made to pursue a career in teaching.
From BSc. to MA, the journey was not an ordeal in any way. But, beginning a career as a Lecturer in English was certainly not easy for me, initially. I was a youngster and I knew that dealing with other youngsters (rather I would say, my competitors) would not be that easy. Managing a classroom required dedicated training for a year. I put in all my hard work, established myself as a reputed English Teacher and luckily, was capable enough to sustain it for over forty years, at a stretch.
As a lecturer, I believe that our efforts should be genuine and in return students would certainly heed to us. A teacher is respected for the knowledge he/she possesses. The study of a teacher goes on endlessly, and we as teachers have to improve constantly. Our work does not end in a day, or after a year.
