As announced earlier by Mr. Thangam Thennarasu, the Tamil Nadu's School Education Minister, 12th Results of Tamil Nadu State Board have been declared today - on May 9, 2011 at about 10:00 a.m. More than 8 lakh students appeared for Class 12 Board Examinations or the Higher Secondary (HSC) Exams in TamilNadu this year.

Besides checking out various Tamilnadu-based portals, students can also check Class 12th results via mobile by sending SMS to 56263 with the following message:

General perception is that the Physics paper this year was tougher than the previous year while the Chemistry and Biology papers were comparatively easier. In the Maths paper, there were a few typographical errors, and hence students are expected to get 3 to 25 marks extra for the questions, depending on which questions they attempted in the paper.

Since Tamil Nadu has not yet accepted to be a part of the All Indian Common Entrance Tests for its professional courses like Engineering and Medicine, Tamilnadu State Board has taken an initiative to declare results earier this year and give enough time to the students to choose their higher education courses and colleges carefully and prepare for the coming competitive tests well in time.

Counseling centres and private practitioners across bigger cities in Tamil Nadu like Chennai are gearting up to help students in distresss and to sooth parents' anxiety. An NGO - Sneha - has come up with a 24-hour helpline in Chennai at 24640060 to help students deal with exam-related stress. With results approaching, it has come up with one more helpline number - 24640050 - for Class 12 students in Chennai. The government hospital in Chennai too has a helpline number - 9444901234 - to deal with any medical emergencies, which will help parents deal with their own anxiety, depression symptoms in their children, and extreme measures that any students might take due to stress.

Based on the past experiences, clinical psychologists think that two kinds of students who generally need help after results are those who have flunked the exams, and those who are generally high achievers and have not performed as per expectations.

Shiksha knows it can be a stressful period for students. Some will move on with life and some will be disappointed. But our panel of education experts are always there for your help. No matter, what your Class 12 Results are, there are always things to do, ways to reach your career goals. Discuss your HSC marks with us and we will guide you to the right path!
