Test for PhD in November
On 26th august, at a meeting of higher education officials, it was decided that common entrance test for PhD will be held in the first week of November. Different state universities are roped in preparing question papers of various subjects. The question paper will be based on the pattern decided by the UGC- NET, CSIR, and ICIR. There will be two question papers for the entrance exam whereby the first one will be purely objective and the latter one will consist of both objective and subjective type questions. Three cut-off marks will be declared after the completion of the exam and it will be declared on the basis of SC/ST, and OBC candidates respectively.
A score card will be provided to students on the basis of these marks and it will be valid for two years. Then the student can take admission in any state university as per his/her marks. To fulfill this purpose, all the state universities will have to create a list of vacant seats in each subject and upload it on their website. The cost of application form will be Rs 800 for general and OBC candidates, and Rs 400 for SC/ST candidates. Discussions were made to make this examination fully online from next year onwards.
