The worst feeling you can have, as a student is not being prepared for an exam. I have taken multiple exams over the past years, and the results varied depending on the steps I had taken to prepare for them. Today, I will provide tips for students to prepare for exams. As a student studying for a big test, you want to stay motivated. You want to believe that you will do well on the exams and you are ready. Try to keep a positive attitude, which will build self-confidence during studying.

Time is an invaluable asset, and if you do not use it wisely, you will not meet your goals of being ready for the exam. I recommend that you set a schedule to study for the exam. The amount of time that you need to clear will be based on the amount of studying required to meet your goal. During this time, you want to prioritize the material from topics you are weak at to topics you are good at. I recommend focusing first on the material that is difficult to grasp. Do not try to prepare for the exams by studying in marathon sessions. For example, I remember studying for five hours straight for my Ethics in America exam. The test was the next day and I could not remember/retain the information from the marathon session.

The environment in which you are using to prepare for the exam is important. You want to find an environment that matches your learning style. Schedule your study time during the most productive time of the day. I would study during my lunch break and before I going to bed. Try to find a study environment, which is free of clutter and noise. Clutter and noise can lead to distractions, which will make your study session non-productive.

Set realistic goals that are attainable. I remember studying with classmates that stated they wanted a B+ on the test but they would miss class to go party. Set timelines to ensure you are meeting your goals. This will give you a realistic goal to shoot for and will keep you on track.

One the day of the exam, make sure you have a positive attitude. A positive attitude can give you the self-confidence needed to tackle any problem during the test. Make sure you do not skip breakfast and give yourself enough time to get ready (shower, dress, etc...). Ensure you arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled exam. I hope that the tips provided will lead to success on your exam.
