UGC-NET registration dates extended
The UGC (University Grants Commission) has extended the last date for online registration and submission of hardcopies for the NET exam. The eleventh hour rush for registration and server slowdown has prompted the commission to take this step.
The last date for online submission has been extended up to May 2, 2012, while hard copies can be submitted at the centres by May 9, 2012.
Being the last date for registration, around 3, 79,000 aspirants had registered online till the evening of April 30, 2012. Now with the server functioning well, the current registration rate is reportedly around 1000 entrants per hour. (Read more)
Scheduled to be held on June 24th, 2012, the UGC-NET exam is turning fully objective from this year onwards. UGC has modified the NET exam pattern by eliminating the subjective portion of the paper i.e. the third and the only descriptive part has been turned objective for the NET aspirants.
The exam is held twice in the month of June and December and determines eligibility for lectureship. The new format of the exam will come into effect from June 2012 and will also ensure more transparency and on time declaration of results. Read complete story.
