UK schools bid to make Indian students job-ready

The Trade and Investment adviser of British Trade Office in Pune John Bunter has once again reiterated that a majority of Indian graduates are not ready to take up jobs immediately. The National Employability Report of Engineering Graduates done by Aspiring Minds also states that only 3.51 per cent engineers fresh out of college are ready to take up projects. NASSCOM also reported last year that 85 per cent of our graduates are not employable.
However, UK universities are interested in offering their expertise to their Indian counterparts and train students in skills that will make them readily employable. UK universities are quite respected worldwide and can offer new opportunities to Indian students and colleges alike. By entering into partnerships at undergraduate and postgraduate level, they can open up avenues like staff training, student exchange, skill development, and establishing off shore campuses. A delegation of 15 UK universities will come to India in mid-April and look for tie-up opportunities with Indian institutions. They will look for chances to engage in faculty development, offer internships or work placements to students, enhance student employability rates, introduce finishing schools and license or franchise their curriculum.
