One of the leading universities of the United States, University of Cincinnati (UC) is looking to attract more Indian students to its campus. The offer includes new post-graduate programs as well as scholarships. Majority of the international students at UC come from China and India.

The university has most of its Indian student population pursuing post graduate programs. Thus, to offer a wider choice of courses to appeal to more Indian students, UC is launching new post graduate programs in engineering, finance and law with attractive scholarships for Indian students to make their studies more affordable.

Science, engineering and biomedical sciences departments offer high value scholarships than departments like humanities, education and social sciences. In 2010, scholarships worth $5 million (Rs 26.4 crores) were given to Indian students and it is expected that the amount will rise to $7 million (Rs 36.9 crore) in 2012.

New programmes launched at UC

Recently, UC has launched Masters of Engineering (MEng) program for students as well as working professionals. The duration of this program is one year and students are not required to pursue a thesis. Moreover, 40% scholarship assistance will be provided to students who get admitted for the course.

Two of the other newly launched programs offering partial scholarships to students include a nine-month MS Finance program; and Masters in Law (LLM) program. As the LLM program focuses on American Law, it’s suitable for those wanting to pursue their law career in the US. Moreover, this program does not require Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score for admission.

The university also plans to add more online courses for students in the next few years.
