Worthiness of MBA/PGDM at Guru Kashi University

Based on the student reviews and feedback, here's a summary of what you need to know:

    * Limited Job Opportunities: Placements are mostly restricted to Marketing students, with a focus on Sales profiles, offering a salary range of INR2.5 Lakhs to INR3.0 Lakhs per annum. Other specializations, such as HR and Finance, may not find suitable job opportunities.
    * Infrastructure and Facilities: The infrastructure is considered average, with classrooms lacking Air Conditioners (ACs). While projectors are present, there isn't a proper blackboard. Computer Labs and Library facilities are also limited.
    * Teaching Quality: Professors are helpful and supportive, but lack high-level qualifications and experience. The teaching methodology focuses on theory over practical applications.
    * Course Curriculum: The first-year curriculum seems acceptable, while the second year is deemed wasteful by many students.
    * Placement Record: Although around 40% of students get placed, the average package offered ranges from INR4 Lakhs to INR7 Lakhs per annum.
    * Other Aspects: Events and festivals are organized regularly, focusing on sports and athletic competitions. The location, near Bathinda, has limited market accessibility.

In conclusion, while Guru Kashi University might offer a relatively affordable education option, its limitations in terms of job opportunities, infrastructure, and teaching quality raise concerns about the program's overall value proposition.

Recommendation: Prospective students should weigh these factors carefully before deciding whether to invest in the MBA/PGDM programme at Guru Kashi University.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for MBA at Guru Kashi University?

    A:

The eligibility criteria for MBA at Guru Kashi University (GKU) depends on whether you're applying for their regular MBA programme or a specialised MBA programme like MBA in Agri-Business Management. Here's a breakdown:

    Regular MBA:

    • Academic Qualification: You must have completed a recognised bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 55% aggregate marks.

    • Entrance Exam: While GKU doesn't mandate a specific entrance exam for their regular MBA program,  they consider scores from various national and state-level MBA entrance exams,  including CAT,  MAT,  CMAT,  GMAT,  ATMA,  and Punjab University Management Entrance Test (PUMET).

    • Merit Score: Admission is granted based on a combined score derived from your Bachelor's degree marks and score obtained in any of the accepted entrance exams. GKU gives weightage to both components,  and the relative weightage for each may vary slightly year-to-year.

Specialized MBA (e.g., MBA in Agri-Business Management):

    • Academic Qualification: Specific requirements may differ depending on the specialization. For example, an MBA in Agri-Business Management requires a bachelor's degree in agriculture or a related field.

    • Entrance Exam: Similar to the regular MBA,  scores from national and state-level MBA entrance exams are considered.

    • Merit Score: Admission is based on a similar combined score system with weightage given to both Bachelor's degree marks and entrance exam scores.

    Additional Points to Consider:

    • Reservation: GKU follows reservation policies as per government guidelines for reserved categories like SC,  ST,  OBC,  etc.. This may affect the cut-off marks for different categories.

    • Work Experience: While not mandatory,  some work experience can be advantageous in your application.

    • Selection Process: Beyond academic qualifications and entrance exams,  GKU may also have additional selection processes like group discussions and personal interviews for certain cases. It is important to note that the weight given to bachelor's degree marks and entrance exam scores may vary depending on the programme you are applying for. Additionally, GKU may also consider other factors, such as extracurricular activities and a statement of purpose, during the selection process.

    Finding Updated Information:

    • Official Website: GKU posts the latest eligibility criteria and selection process details for their MBA programs on their official website. Check the "Admission" section under the "Faculty of Management and Commerce" heading.

    • University Admissions Office: Contacting the GKU Admissions Office directly is the best way to get the most up-to-date and specific information regarding eligibility criteria for your desired MBA program. In addition to exams, GKU may also require applicants to submit letters of recommendation or a statement of purpose as part of their selection process. It is important to note that the eligibility criteria and selection process may vary for different MBA programs offered by GKU, so it is advisable to thoroughly research and inquire about the specific requirements for your desired program.

The facilities are very good, and the placements in our college are very high.
Placements: 90% of students got placed in MBA agribusiness course. The highest package offered is 15 LPA, and the lowest package is 4.5 LPA. The top companies like Sugna food and other companies hire students here. The role offered in our course is in the HR department.
Infrastructure: The facilities are very good. The infrastructure is very good. The whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Proper computer labs, classrooms and library are available. The quality of food in the hostel is very good. The food is available 3 times in mess, and also snacks are provided. If students want to eat food, a canteen is available outside. Sports and games are conducted on campus like basketball, football and cricket.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, well qualified and knowledgeable. They solve our problems easily. They know how to teach students. The teachers are very good. The course curriculum is relevant. Many students are made ready for the food industry, feed industry and other business industries. If students do not attend the classes properly, then they face problems with attendance and also subjects. The minimum passing percentage is 35%.
Other: I thought of taking admission in another college in the same course, but I found out that this university offers the MBA agribusiness course at a low fee structure. Then, I got to know in-depth details about this college. The college is ICAR, UGC, NAAC, etc., accredited. I think there is nothing to be improved about our course because it is already good. The parking facilities are not good. The university conducts events on time, like Manifest etc. The campus crowd is very good. Connectivity is not good because the students are busy with their studies and projects.

Nice infrastructure and well-educated faculty members are available here.
Placements: I don't know yet about placements, and I just took admission here. However, I heard that a lot of companies visit here. Suguna Foods and some finance companies also visited here for placements last month. But I think the placement cell here is average. I don't have any idea about any passed-out students.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and labs are average here. I don't feel like it's a private university. There is also a central library that contains a lot of books and is huge in size. Multiple canteens are available on the campus, but the food served is also good. I don't have any idea about the hostel.
Faculty: Faculty members here are really good, and they are very helpful and well educated. They're really nice to us, and their teaching quality is great. The course curriculum is definitely relevant. Faculty members also provide notes for every topic and do revisions many times.

If you have a budget above INR 4 lakhs for MBA, don't consider GKU.
Placements: Placement is limited to the students of marketing, mainly in sales profile with CTC of 2.50 LPA to 3.00 LPA. No jobs for HR and finance profile. Chances are high that you may not get a job of your choice from here. You have to either compromise or remain jobless.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average. Classes are equipped with fans but no ACs. Yes, we have projectors in classrooms but no proper board for that. There is one smart lab & computer lab, but again with limited facilities. Yes, the quality of food in the hostel mess is good but rooms are overcrowded with 4 boys in a single room.
Faculty: Teaching faculty are helpful and supportive but lack high qualifications and experience. The way of teaching is very less practical. We have attended one industry visit to a Coca-Cola plant during our course. The course curriculum for the first year was fine but the second year is total waste. Semester exams are easy and not a thing to worry about. You can pass it easily.
Other: I chose HR in MBA because I am passionate to work with people. A more practical approach is needed in the way of teaching rather than focusing on just theoretical aspects. Yes, events and fest are regularly held here focusing more on sports and athletics. It's located far from Bathinda's main city in a village between paddy fields. No market access. You have to catch a bus to go to Bathinda.

    A:

It's difficult to definitively say whether the MBA programme at Guru Kashi University (GKU) is better than the one at RKDF University, Bhopal, as both universities have their own strengths and weaknesses. Determining which one is "better" for you depends on your individual priorities and preferences. Here's a comparison to help you decide: Guru Kashi University's MBA programme offers a strong focus on practical skills and real-world applications, with a curriculum that emphasizes hands-on experience through internships and industry collaborations. On the other hand, RKDF University's programme stands out for its comprehensive theoretical foundation and research-oriented approach, providing students with a deeper understanding of business concepts. Ultimately, the choice between the two universities will depend on whether you prioritize practical experience or theoretical knowledge in your MBA education.

Q:   Which entrance exam scores does Guru Kashi University accept for admission to MBA?

    A:

Guru Kashi University accepts scores from a variety of national and state-level entrance exams for admission to their MBA Programmes. These include CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, GMAT, and Punjab MET. The university believes in providing equal opportunities to students from different backgrounds and therefore considers scores from multiple exams. This allows a diverse pool of applicants to showcase their potential and be considered for admission based on their performance in the entrance exams.

    National Level:

    • CAT (Common Admission Test): Conducted by IIMs, it is considered the most prestigious MBA entrance exam in India.

    • MAT (Management Aptitude Test): The AAIIM (All India Association of Management Institutes)-conducted exam is popular for its flexibility and multiple attempts per year.

    • CMAT (Common Management Admission Test): AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education)-conducted exam, widely accepted by many B-schools across India.

    • GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test): Primarily for international students, but accepted by some Indian B-schools, including GKU.

    • ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions): AIMS (Association of Indian Management Schools) conducted an exam, another popular option with multiple test windows.

    State Level:

    • Punjab University Management Entrance Test (PUMET): Conducted by Punjab University for admission to MBA Programmes in various universities across Punjab, including GKU. Apart from these exams, there are also state-level entrance exams conducted by different universities across India for admission to MBA Programmes. These exams, such as the PUMET conducted by Punjab University, provide opportunities for students to gain admission to MBA Programmes in specific states or regions. GKU accepts the PUMET score as one of the criteria for admission to its MBA Programme.

    Note:

    • GKU doesn't mandate a specific exam for their regular MBA Programme, allowing flexibility for applicants. However, scoring well in a recognised national or state-level exam is highly recommended for better chances of admission.

    • The weight given to scores from different exams might vary slightly year-on-year.

    • Some specialised MBA Programmes at GKU might have additional eligibility requirements for entrance exams, depending on the specific field.

    Recommendations:

    • Check the official website of GKU for the latest information on accepted entrance exams and weights for each exam for the current year's admission process.

    • Consider appearing for multiple exams to increase your options and potentially improve your chances of admission.

    • Research the syllabus and difficulty level of each exam before deciding which one to take. It is important to note that the weight given to each entrance exam may also vary depending on the Programmeme you are applying for. Therefore, it is advisable to thoroughly research and understand the specific requirements and preferences of your desired MBA Programmeme at GKU. Additionally, reaching out to current students or alumni of the Programmeme can provide valuable insights and guidance on which exams might be more beneficial for your application.

Q:   What are the fees structures for MBA programmes at Guru Kashi University?

    A:

The fee structure for MBA programs at Guru Kashi University (GKU) can vary depending on several factors, making it difficult to provide a single definitive answer. Here's what you need to consider: First, the fee structure at GKU may depend on whether you are an international student or a domestic student. International students typically have higher tuition fees compared to domestic students. Additionally, the specific MBA programme you choose at GKU can also impact the fee structure, as certain specializations or concentrations may have different tuition rates.

    Type of MBA Program:

    • Regular MBA: The fees for the regular MBA programme at GKU might range from Rs. 1.5 to 2 Lacs per semester,  depending on factors like category (general,  SC/ST/OBC) and scholarship options.

    • Specialized MBA: Some specialised MBA programs, like the MBA in Agri-Business Management or the MBA in Healthcare Administration, might have different fee structures,  potentially higher than the regular MBA program.

    Additional Fees:

    • Apart from the tuition fees,  you might need to pay additional charges for registration,  examination,  library,  student activity,  hostel accommodation (if applicable),  etc.. These additional fees could be around Rs. 20,000–30,000 per year.

    Finding Updated Information:

    • Official Website: The most reliable and up-to-date information on fee structures for specific MBA programs at GKU can be found on their official website. Look for the "Fees" section under the "Faculty of Management and Commerce" heading.

    • University Admissions Office: Contacting the GKU Admissions Office directly is another way to get the latest information and clarify any doubts regarding fees and additional charges for your desired MBA program.

    Recommendations:

It is recommended to reach out to current or former students of GKU who have pursued an MBA programme to get firsthand information about the fees and any hidden charges. Additionally, consulting with educational consultants or agencies specializing in MBA admissions can provide valuable insights and guidance on the fee structure at GKU.

    • Specify the type of MBA programme you're interested in (e.g.,  regular MBA,  MBA in Agri-Business Management) for a more accurate estimate of fees.

    • Consider additional costs like hostel accommodation (if needed) and travel expenses while budgeting for your studies.

    • Explore scholarship opportunities offered by GKU or external sources to minimize your financial burden.

Remember, information readily available online might not be completely accurate and updated. For the most reliable and relevant fee structure details, consulting the official university website or contacting the GKU Admissions Office directly is highly recommended. Additionally, it is important to factor in other potential expenses, such as textbooks, course materials, and any necessary equipment or technology for your chosen program. These costs can vary depending on the specific requirements of your courses. It is also worth considering the potential for part-time employment opportunities or internships that may help offset some of your expenses while studying at GKU.
