How does the placement cell for Ph.D. at IISc Bangalore assist students in getting placed?

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's how the placement cell at IISc Bangalore assists Ph.D. students:

    * Unique approach: Since IISc Bangalore is a research-oriented institution, most students opt for higher studies instead of joining industry immediately after completing their Ph.D.
    * Placement opportunities: Despite this trend, the placement cell still offers assistance to those who wish to pursue industry careers. In recent years, around 5-6 students have opted for placements, with an average salary package of INR15 Lacs per annum.
    * International university acceptances: Many Ph.D. students from IISc Bangalore have been accepted into prestigious international universities in the USA, Europe, and Australia to pursue further research in their fields.
    * Flexibility: The placement cell allows students to choose between pursuing higher studies within India or abroad, depending on their interests and goals.

Overall, the placement cell at IISc Bangalore focuses on supporting students' academic and research aspirations, while also offering resources and guidance for those interested in exploring industry opportunities.

Satisfied with the faculty members .
Placements: The campus has a well-functioning placement cell that assists students. Students are eligible to sit for placements in the last semester, given that they have completed the required number of credits. However, a unique point about the institute is that since it is a research-oriented institute, most students prefer to go for higher studies. Last year's data shows that only 6 students SAT for placements, out of which 5 were placed with an average package of 15 lacs per year. The remaining vast majority of students went down two ways: either continuing to do their Masters at IISc itself or going for a Ph.D. in their field. Out of 100 students, 60 were accepted into prestigious international universities in the USA, Europe and Australia to continue their studies with a Ph.D. and contribute to scientific research. The universities that accepted undergraduates from IISc range from the University of Michigan to Oxford University, Caltech to the University of Los Angeles and many more.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities provided by the campus are top-notch. The hostels have been divided into blocks, with UG students being assigned E block, U block and S block. The rooms are well-equipped with beds, fans, cupboards, and light. The rooms in E block are twin-sharing, while single-occupancy rooms are available in U & S blocks. The room allotment is random. The hostels are assigned on the first day of coming to campus and are very cheap at 5,000 per month. The hostels are located at a central location on the campus so classrooms are nearby. The food provided at the campus is of excellent quality. There are 5 messes: A and B being North Indian veg and North Indian non-veg, C and D being South Indian veg and South Indian non-veg, and E mess providing a composite diet. The menu is decided by a mess committee selected by the students. 4 meals are provided every day: breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Special items are made for festivals; deserts and beverages are there.
Faculty: Highly qualified and motivated faculty are there. They are superheroes for the students. They are very open-minded and sensible. Each faculty member has their own lab in which they will be doing their research. With the experience they have, they never disappoint students in giving guidance through their project work. You can always go to any faculty for clarifications.
Other: IISC has the best campus atmosphere. I think they will first conduct the freshers party for juniors every year and then there will be Sangam, a party for all freshers and seniors and Rhapsody, an annual fest in which many science and technical events are organized.

The college has good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Nearly 95% of students got placed in reputed companies, and a major fraction of them easily went to foreign countries to carry out research and increasing scope of science. The average annual package offered for an M.Tech passed out is 20 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Tata Steel, Infosys, Wipro etc. Students usually work in labs of IISc during summer and winter breaks. Since good quality research is done, there is usually no need to seek internships outside.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in nearly every part of campus. Labs are well built and contain all the expensive equipment required for research. Both big and small classrooms are available which leads to good interaction with the professors. The hostels are good, and the hostel staff are very helpful. The mess food quality is good and affordable. The health center is working 24 hours, and grounds are built for dedicated sports.
Faculty: The teaching quality is good. They solve our doubts clearly. Some teachers are in a hurry to complete the syllabus. The course curriculum is decided by students themselves based on their interest and usefulness of subjects in research-oriented careers. The pass percentage is good, and hardly anyone fails. There is also an option of dropping out in the middle of the semester.
Other: I chose this course as I wanted to make the best of myself in my research career. The best thing is well-built labs and the availability of nearly every facility required in this field. The course could be improved if animated videos were available to understand concepts better. The campus is very different from Bengaluru city, and life is good. Pollution is less. Roads are covered with trees from both sides and keep it very peaceful. A variety of tournaments in diverse sports keep occurring, keeping student life enjoyable and busy.

The best college in the country-IISc.
Placements: The placements in our college were the best in the country. My classmate and I got the best placement for our career. Meanwhile, we got the internship from the worlds top institution of Astrophysics. That's all possible due to the recommendation from our renowned faculty, who were the top in their own field among the world. Our placements are possible because of them only and our hard work and dedication towards the research. It was a good experience.
Infrastructure: One of the main speciality of the IISc is the labs. They are not only advanced, but discipline is also maintained there. All the facilities which help in our day to day are available in the college. Both academic and sports are given importance. Classrooms have the advanced technology that enabled us to have the best knowledge.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful in every manner. They were highly qualified. Most of them have done research in the best institutes of the world. Their teaching quality was awesome. They give the technical education depending on the situation.
Other: Every year, there are various fests in our college.

Awesome place to be there, if you are researcher, it is the best place in India.
Placements: My institute gives the best placement to ME and BS guys. Even though the people are busy in research, it provides better opportunities if someone wants to join the companies. Student Councils help students in securing their jobs and all. Up to my knowledge, the best salary my Senior got as post-doctoral fellow was 4700 USD/month and one friend who joined an Indian company gets 25 Lacs per year. There is more to do than you think.
Infrastructure: It has the most beautiful campus in India as ranked by some websites. It has Wi-Fi enabled campus except hostels but you can get private vendors to provide you Wi-Fi and net connection in the hostel. Library is one of the biggest in India as more than 8 Lakh books and 25 Lak academic journals are available. Library has access to all the notable journals all over world. It has its own publishing house as well. There are two big grounds for playing cricket, football, hockey, etc. Cricket team is at 4th level in Karnataka Cricket Association team. Food is good as all types of hygienic food is available. New hostels are very clean. Cleaning happens everyday.
Faculty: It has the best faculty in India. We have the world level faculty and they are well recognised at world level. They have published best papers in nature, science and other notable journals. They build teaching program that helps student their skill like anything. There method of teaching is more practical. So, they look into the application and let you understand the things with real examples.

Other: Best institute for higher studies. It is probably the best campus that an Indian college can EVER have. During my stay there, I was personally in love with the campus. The campus being within the city areas of Mathikere and Malleswaram, one feels as if one has entered a hidden paradise! The only other institute in India which can equal the scenic beauty of IISc Bangalore is IIT Guwahati.
