Q:   Is Indira Gandhi University good for M.Sc.?

A:
{Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's what emerges:

* Faculty: Many students praise the qualifications and supportive nature of the faculty members. They emphasize that professors help students prepare for the NET JRF exam and clarify doubts in class.
* Infrastructure: The university offers good infrastructure, including a huge library, spacious classrooms, and reliable Wi-Fi connection.
* Affordability: The programme is considered affordable, making it accessible to many students.
* Practical exposure: However, some students mention limited practical exposure during the course, which may impact career readiness.
* Placement record: Unfortunately, the placement record is poor, with many students relying on self-practice to secure jobs.
* Campus life: While the campus is described as good, some students criticize the quality of food in hostels and frequent power cuts.
* Education quality: A few students express disappointment with the overall education quality, citing mostly theoretical knowledge and limited practical applications.

In conclusion, while Indira Gandhi University has its strengths, particularly in terms of faculty support and infrastructure, its weaknesses include limited practical exposure, poor placement records, and inconsistent food quality. Aspirants considering M.Sc. programs here should weigh these factors carefully before making a decision.

It is a good and affordable college.
Placements: This course is affordable. Our college does not provide good placements. You can get placements based on your practice.
Infrastructure: The library is enormous. Any student can study there at about 10 PM. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. Our classrooms are spacious. Wi-Fi is available. The environment of the hostel is good.
Faculty: Our teachers are well qualified. They support every student in achieving their goals. They help students qualify for the NET JRF exam. They cover every topic in classrooms. They cleared our doubts. Semester exams are challenging.

Overall, I suggest don't choose this university if you want to learn something.
Placements: I don't like it because of low-quality education. Mostly, students have to self-study. We got very few practical classes. Practical examinations are conducted in the form of vivas. If you want to clear JRF, join here. Otherwise, don't take admission here.
Infrastructure: It has a decent building. I am a day scholar, and connectivity is not good. Students who live in the hostel don't like it because of its low-quality food. There is electricity cut very often. The university fee is low.
Faculty: The evaluation system is not good. No matter how good you write, you'll never get full marks. We get our results very late. If you answer all the required questions, you can score 70%. If you want to just pass the exams, then it's a good university for you.
Other: Avoid this college as much you can. But if you want a college with low fees, then you can go for it.

Not satisfied with placements & lab work faculty is good. Infrastructure and facilities are average.
Placements: I did not see any companies visit my department during my time there, and I don't know of any students who were offered internships. Students have to find their own way to get an internship.
Infrastructure: The labs were well-equipped, but they lacked some chemicals and equipment that were needed to perform important practicals. The library was large and had all the necessary books. The air conditioning and WiFi worked well in the labs and the library. The canteen food was good, and we spent a lot of time there with our friends. The university also organized different sports activities and competitions.
Faculty: Although the college lacked adequate faculty in the past, new faculty members have recently joined. The teachers are experienced and well qualified, and the course curriculum is relevant and helpful for preparing for competitive exams like CSIR NET. Semester exams are easy to moderately difficult, and results are declared in CGPA.
Other: I liked my course at this university, but it lacked some lab work. The department organized workshops and extension lectures, and the university organized extracurricular activities and events. In November, the university held a three-day youth fest that included cultural events, fun activities, and competitions.

IGU campus is best suited for students who are interested in higher studies.
Placements: I passed my PG course in 2021. The total strength in our course is 60. The highest salary package offered in our course is 5 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 3 LPA. Top companies like IBM, Infosys, etc., visit our college for placements. The top roles offered in our course are network security executive and data manager.
Infrastructure: Our college provides facilities like top-class labs, classrooms with significant accessories for learning, and a good-speed Wi-Fi facility. The food served is the best in hostels, and it is the same as home food. It provides good medical facilities and all games. The canteen facilities are good. It provides sports ground for outdoor and for indoor games.
Faculty: The most important thing is that faculty members are well-deserved. Faculty members are qualified teachers in every subject. Their teaching skills are fabulous. The course curriculum is relevant both for maths and computer science students. Teachers do a lot of work on us, so exams are not difficult. The pass percentage is nearly 90%.
Other: I have chosen this course because it fulfills all IT and maths tutor expectations. The best thing is to learn IT keywords with ease. Our college should add others subjects of CS in the course. Timely events or fests are organised by the university.

It is the best college to study and make a bright future.
Placements: Students who score above 60% marks get admission to our course. The highest salary offered was Rs. 30,000 per month, and the lowest salary offered was Rs. 5,000 per month. The average salary offered was Rs. 20,000 per month. About 70% of students from our course got an internship. Students have to score 80% marks in mathematics.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is the best. Students get answers to hard questions by using Wi-Fi. Computer labs are the best, and it provides a good quality of computers. Classrooms are huge and airy. The food served is good as we get quality rice and curry. There are sports grounds, and we use them daily in the evening.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are well-qualified and hard working. They also help students to solve their problems, and their nature is good. Their teaching style is easy and best. Students are hardworking, and they always become ready for the industry. Semester exams are difficult, so students have to get 60% marks to pass.
Other: I am best in mathematics, so I have chosen this course. I want to become a maths teacher in the future. I hope our college should improve my study skills and study time to get good marks and a bright future. Events are organised in this college every month. The college always conducts historical tours and camps. The campus is very good. The environment of the campus is also good to study and make a bright future.

I am satisfied but not much because of placements.
Placements: About 6-8 students out of 40 students got placed in 2019. The average salary package offered ranges between 2.5-3.5 LPA by Tech Mahindra. Top recruiting companies like Technosoft and Cisco visit our campus for placements. The course is subject-oriented with computer and maths. The college does not provide an internship opportunity for students.
Infrastructure: The college provides Wi-Fi facility of 100 Mbps in labs. The library is also good, and all books related to the subject are available. Hostels are quite good with some basic facilities. Sports and games are not good at our university, but the stadium is starting to build to improve games culture.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are knowledgeable and qualified, but some of them are not good. The course structure is relevant to industry demand. Some teachers are brilliant, but some of them are only graduates. They have no knowledge about the course structure, but the syllabus is as per industry demand.
Other: Youth fest is organised by the college every year.
