Pursuing BDS at People's University: Worth It?

After analyzing the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's what stands out:

    Pros:

    * Highly qualified faculty: Many teachers are experts in their fields, having completed their education from reputed institutions. Some have even authored textbooks related to Dentistry.
    * Good campus life: The university has a pleasant atmosphere, with greenery surrounding the campus, modern libraries, and recreational facilities like gyms, badminton and basketball courts.
    * Relevant curriculum: The course curriculum is up-to-date and follows Dental Council of India (DCI) guidelines, preparing students well for their future careers.
    * Placement prospects: Although there may not be direct placements in big companies, many students find employment in hospitals, clinics, or pursue further studies in Master's programs.
    * Infrastructure: The university has state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, and medical facilities, making it suitable for hands-on learning.

    Cons:

    * Recent decline in teacher quality: A few experienced faculty members have left the institution, affecting the quality of teaching.
    * Limited resources: While the campus has modern amenities, some areas need improvement, such as the lack of air-conditioned classrooms and poor maintenance of sports grounds.
    * Disappointing hostel facilities: Despite being located within the campus, the hostels require upgrading, with issues regarding room size, food options, and timely resolution of problems.

    Overall Assessment:
While People's University offers some strengths, such as highly qualified faculty and a relevant curriculum, the recent decline in teacher quality and limited resources might impact the overall learning experience. However, the university's efforts to maintain a pleasant campus atmosphere and provide opportunities for students' growth should not be overlooked.

Considering these factors, pursuing a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree at People's University can be a viable option for those who prioritize a strong educational foundation and are willing to adapt to potential limitations in certain areas.

Absolutely satisfied as faculty members are good, with good infrastructure and good patient loads.
Placements: 70 percent of students get jobs or open their own clinics or pursue MS afterward. Our college offers MS too. The patient load is great here, and we get to learn many things. Faculty members and seniors are really good and helpful, and we have a central library here.
Infrastructure: We have Wi-Fi facilities here, and each department has its own lab. The classrooms are quite big with projectors and AC. Hostels for both girls and boys are provided, and hostel rooms have a bed, almirah, study table, chair, and side locker. The food is also decent.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified with a great amount of knowledge. Their teaching quality is good. We have a total of four exams annually: 2 sessionals, 1 pre-university, and 1 university-level exam. The exams are tough, and the minimum pass percentage is 45%, which is tough.
Other: I wanted to pursue dentistry from the very start. We have various extracurricular activities such as fests, garba night, DJ night, etc. Our college provides scholarships for both ST/SC and OBC category students.

Best staff for UG students and highly qualified faculty members.
Placements: We have a strength of 100 students per batch from which minimum 50% pf the students get placement in companies like tata, etc. Some students choose to open their own clinic or get placed as college staff. Oral and maxillofacial surgery departments get the best results.
Infrastructure: Our college is fully covered with natural greeneries with all sort of facilities like gym badminton courts and canteens. Libraries have Wi-Fi, lifts for patients and students. Campus have great mess with tasty foods. Basketball and football grounds and a very safe environment for girls.
Faculty: Teachers and faculty members are highly qualified with some of them having their degrees from top government colleges. Some HODs have written books for BDS like Oral Pathology by Make. There is a strict rule of 75% attendance to appear in the exams. Exam curriculum consists of 4 internal exams and 1 final exam called as PU.

The college has suffered a downfall in recent years with a lack of quality education.
Placements: There aren't any placements in our course BDS. After internship completion in the 5th year, they set you free to go for private practice and prepare for MS exams and other exams. Campus recruitment isn't in the prospectus of the college. Students should seek opportunities on their own.
Infrastructure: According to the fee structure, the campus is more disappointing than ever. No campus Wi-Fi facility is available. Classrooms are non-air-conditioned with basic technology only. Sports equipment is lacking, and grounds and arenas are never maintained. There is always a complaint about the hostel's mess.
Faculty: Teachers were initially the best ones, but in recent years, experienced faculty members have resigned from the college. The teaching process is nothing else but presentation reading. The curriculum is relevant. Yearly exams are easy to pass if you are a regular student and complete your patient or pre-clinical work on time.
Other: The only thing good about the college is its fest.

Really good place to earn some knowledge.
Placements: There are total 100 students in each batch. It's a 4 year course with one year compulsory internship from the college itself. After the course it's your choice whether you want to open your own pvt. Clinic or join some other Institute as BDS/MS staff.
Infrastructure: Classrooms, labs and library are good. Wi-Fi is also available. Hostel is also good however the quality of food available in the mess is somewhat okay. There is one badminton court, one basketball court and a garden too. In the main University Campus Gym and yoga facilities are also available.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified, knowledgeable and helpful too. The teaching quality is also good. There are smart classes too. All the nine departments (branches of dentistry) are available in this Institute. And the students are taught to deal with patients from the third year itself.

    Review of People'S University.
Placements: This course is mainly taken for providing service to society and relieve people from pain. Our college helps the student community, to fulfill this goal by providing us all kinds of support. The placement department is one such area of support. We usually do not opt for jobs and placements as such in BDS. Some of us join hospital and the majority of the students open their clinics. The placement department helps us in internships only. The internship is the core area that provides us with hand experience as we get a chance to practically conduct our learnings on patients and get an opportunity to treat them. That is the only key area of support by the department but it is crucial as an internship helps us to gain confidence for the future.
Infrastructure: Our college is considered as the best college of Bhopal for dentistry. Facilities provided by the college are above average. Labs are equipped but still, the material is not sufficient for such huge batches, and hence even after paying such a hefty fee we have to spend a lot on buying equipment again and again on our own. The college infrastructure is also fine. In the hostel, infrastructure and facilities are not that good. Rooms are small and complaints are not solved on time and other services also are not that good. Only positive point is that the hostel is in-campus and safety is well taken care of. The food served is tasty, but the menu is fixed and repetitive in nature.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are well qualified and they know their domain area very well. They know how to teach such huge batches and handle students properly. Faculty members are understandable, and they have relevant experience in the teaching area and are professionally well known in the field. Teachers are knowledgeable and help every student. All the faculty members are well trained and have updated knowledge and skillsets and teach the curriculum which is properly updated with time and makes us ready for our future with relevant skills-set. Non-teaching staff members like lab assistants are also helpful in nature and treat students well with some exceptions.
Other: Annual fest and events are conducted properly. We have sports meet and other chances to showcase our talent provided throughout the year through various events and college meetups and sports day celebrations.
