Q:   What is the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.Com programs at Ravenshaw University Cuttack?

    A:
    {Source: B.Com students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.Com Programs

    * Limited opportunities: According to students, the college provides limited placement opportunities for B.Com programs, mostly for MSc and BSc departments.
    * No dedicated placement cell: Unfortunately, there is no dedicated placement cell in the college for B.Com programs, making it challenging for students to find suitable job opportunities.
    * Few companies visiting campus: Although some reputed companies like TCS, Wipro, and Genpact visit the campus, they mainly recruit students from other departments, leaving B.Com students with fewer options.
    * Low salary packages: When students do manage to get placed, the salary packages are reportedly low, ranging from 1.5 LPA to 2 LPA.

Overall, the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.Com programs seems limited, with students facing challenges in finding suitable job opportunities due to the lack of a dedicated placement cell and limited recruitment efforts from employers.

    Great infrastructure and social life.
Placements: Ravenshaw University offers good placement opportunities for freshers. Many well-known companies try to hire their future employees from here. Some of the top recruiters are Accenture, EY, TCS, Deloitte, Axis Bank, etc. The average starting package for freshers is about 3.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: I really like the infrastructure, considering it is a government institution. There is every facility available for the students. There is an ATMA huge ground for every sport, an indoor stadium for indoor games, there is a gym, and the classrooms are huge with smart boards; there is also a huge central library with a great collection of books. Every department has its own Wi-Fi, which is free to use.
Faculty: The faculty is amazing; they are very knowledgeable and experienced. Their way of teaching makes the topic more interesting and easy to learn. They provide excellent information and guidance even in fields other than academics. There are 2 examinations in a semester: one is mid-sem, and the other one is end-sem. Mid-sem is also known as internals, and the end-sem is the final exam of a semester.
Other: There are a lot of functions and events hosted by many different hostels and departments very often. This makes the social life great, and one can easily make new friends and connections by attending these events.

Why Ravenshaw may be your ideal start for your B.Com?
Placements: Almost 65-70% students were placed who SAT for the company placements. The highest package was 4 Lacs, the lowest was 2.5 Lacs, and the average was between 3-3.5 Lacs. Deloitte, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, and some banking and insurance sector companies too came for placement. Students who did not pursue higher studies got internships in various companies; almost 60% students who were serious, and their companies were TCS, Bharti AXA, Deloitte, etc. Top roles were sales assistant, work management, analysis, and audit.
Infrastructure: Facilities are adequate and above expectation. There is nothing to complain about, be it the hostel, departments, or grounds. Wi-Fi facility in both the hostel and department, labs being present in science and computer labs in others. Classrooms are spacious and clean, and adequate maintenance is done. The college library is big with 2 parts, and there are libraries in hostels too. All other facilities like food in the canteen and hostel mess are very good compared to other colleges, the best among which is the East hostel. Medical facilities are also very good, with SCB Medical College very near to the campus. There is a very big playground for cricket, football, basketball, and others.
Faculty: The teachers were very knowledgeable and have come from very good colleges and universities after clearing very prestigious exams like CMA, CS, PGDCA, NET, etc. They are always ready to help. I must say that graduation may make you industry-ready but not fully fledged; you have to work in various organizations to gain experience or do higher studies. The difficulty of semester exams is a little higher than moderate, but with good preparation, one can excel in those exams, and the pass percentage is above 95%.
Other: I had chosen commerce in my higher secondary, so for that, I thought B.Com would be better for me to pursue, and I personally like commerce subjects, be it economics, business, human resource, finance, and obviously accounting. The best thing about this course is that the world is gaining an understanding of finance with time and knowing the value of B.Com rather than only taking science seriously, and many jobs are coming up for the commerce sector. I suggest removing some subjects which are of less value to a commerce student and adding some more valuable subjects. Events, fests, campus crowd, connectivity, campus surroundings, scholarships, and extracurricular activities are in frequent terms and highly active.

    The faculty members are experienced.
Placements: In our institute, only 20-30% of students secure placements annually. The highest package offered for B.Com was 5 LPA, while the lowest stood at 1 LPA. The average package for our course was 2 LPA. Merely 2-3 companies visit our college for placements, and unfortunately, no students secure internships.
Infrastructure: The facilities of our college are excellent. The infrastructure of the building is well developed, featuring a large library at the center of the campus. The campus maintains a very positive environment, and various sports activities are conducted every year. However, the college does not provide hostel facilities.
Faculty: The standout feature of our college is its highly qualified and knowledgeable faculty. All faculty members possess master's degrees from recognized institutions. They consistently deliver top-notch education, and exams are relatively easy to pass. While the course curriculum is somewhat dated, it adequately prepares students for the industry.

Ravenshaw University is the best college worldwide in Odisha.
Placements: A high percentage prefer this course. The average package varies from 7 Lacs to 10 to 11 Lacs. Top recruitment companies like Wipro, Deloitte, EY, etc. 90% of students got internships from this course. Top roles like sales manager, deputy manager, and other roles are available through placement.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for your course/department, like classrooms, free Wi-Fi, the best library called Kanika Library. The quality of the facilities in your hostel, like the gym room, TV room, and cooking facilities. The quality of food available in the mess is very affordable. Medical facilities like a dispensary and sports facilities like the University gym are available.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable enough for students to get quality knowledge. The teaching quality is the best. The semester exams in this college are not quite difficult. The pass percentage is 33.3%. This course curriculum is very relevant for this generation.
Other: I chose this course as it is quite interesting. The best thing about this course is that it has high job prospects like banking, professional courses like CA, CMA, CS. It is quite good for fests, campus crowd, surrounding the best ever. Every year, the boys' hostel organizes a fest.

Average college, but value for money.
Placements: The placement cell is good for networking, but if you are looking for a place with a high CTC, then this place is not for you. Ravenshaw provides good placements with good growth prospects. The market can also affect the employment scenario. Large MNCs like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, and the Big 4 have given placements here.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is a plus point. There are around 6 boys' hostels and around 5 girls' hostels. There is an indoor and outdoor gymnasium, OCA-approved pitches, good greenery all around, free rickshaws for specially abled students, a large auditorium, and a library that's famous for its 150-year-old legacy.
Faculty: The quality of teaching is good,, and the faculty is also qualified. They are friendly and supportive. The classes are very regular. The best part is that every teacher has their own publications and books and has done research on many topics and areas.
